Hello!
ProLiant DL380 Gen9 + Smart Array P440ar Controller 2GB + 3 x intel ssd S3700 + 2x sas hp EG0300JEHLV
why does not Cache Manager list all the arrays, but only Drive 1? Can I even include a standard controller cache for the array SSD?
or tell me, please, the most productive configuration option from the existing equipment?

So I bought an old DL580 G7 for home use, but now i'm not very happy with it because the fans are always at 100%.
About my config. When I bought it, there was one Intel Xeon X7560 in it with 96GB RAM. Nothing more. At this time the CPU Temp in idle was around 40°C.
So I added a GTX1080 and the Fans got faster. I know it's related to the PCIe Devices / their Power consumption. But the fans were still at a acceptable speed.
So I added a PCIe SATA SSD Card (with no external power input) and the fans got faster again. It was around 60% in Idle and 70-75% at full workload.
So I threw out the X7560 and added two E7-2870 (same as E7-4870, but only supports 2 CPUs simultaneously, and its cheaper) and the fans - which surprise - are now at 100%. Always.
The CPU is getting freezed at 34°C and my GPU too. My neighbours asked why I always keep on the vacuum cleaner and .... We cant talk in the room where the Server is located.
I know that servers are built to keep cold and dont give a nice handshake about volume, but I think this isn't purposeful. Also the fans eat a lot of power... I saw a discussion about a DL580 G7 where the CPUs are getting "hot" and the fans still chill. (https://community.hpe.com/t5/ProLiant-Servers-ML-DL-SL/HP-ProLiant-DL580-G7-iOL-3-temperature-threshold-of-cpu/m-p/6969521)
Is there any trick to tell him everything is fine an it's no problem to lower the fanspeed? I configured everything in BIOS and iLO to lower the fan speed but nothing changes at all.
Hello
We have DL380 G9 servers and run ESXI 6.0 with VSAN.
We use HP Sim for monitoring and SIM seem to be giving us lot of predictive failiure alerts including alerts like bellow
Solid State Disk Wear Status Change
This is contraditicting and seem to be false alerts, as ESXI shows these disks as healthy, ILO shows them as healthy even SIM shows them as healthy (Health status)
I have attached the file showing the alert
Has anyone came accross this before?
We use latest firmware and P440 controllers in HBA mode
thank you
Hi,
1 - My Ml350 G6 fried, and i had 5 SAS drives, 4 RAID 5 + 1 SPARE with Smart Array P410i.
2 - I have a production server DL360 G9 with RAID 5, 5 RAID 5 + 1 SPARE but with Smart Array P440ar controller.
I know they are different servers and controllers, but is there a chance where i can add the RAID disks from server 1, to the server 2, and just retrive the data, thats all i need.
Or it would be better to try to have a server with P410i controller and run the disks in that server?
Regards.
Anyone know the issue, or have a workaround? I have 2 x SATA SSD for Boot/OS drive, and then a P440 Array for my data, but running the Ineteligent Provisioning only ever lists the P440.
I have tried creating the array first through the bios setup, but no matter what I can never see it listed when I begin the provisioing wizard.
Do I have to do this manually without the wizard or something else stopping me?
I have 2 DL580 G7 machines with RHEL 6.7
I Hope we can get 300MB/s.
But I only get 138MB/s

Hello All
I have at my disposal two server hp proliant: the dl380 g7 and gen8
I would like to know if it is possible to put the gen8 slave g7.I wish I could have all the virtual machines installed on the redundant gen8 on the G7
thank you
I have a HP ML10 Gen9 server which has the firmware version 1.007 I have been trying to install the latest firmware version 1.10 which I have downloaded from the HP website.
My server is running Linux Mint Silvia 18.3.
The instructions on the website are:
When I follow the instructions I end up with this error:

The flash does not happen.
I have tried the same process with the downloaded firmware in different locationf with the same error occurring.
Any pointer or help to help me get this job done would be very much appricated.
Thanks for taking the time to read my thread.
How do you add drive(s) to a current RAID 1+0 (10)? When I select the logical drive I want to add the drives to I only get the following 2 options:
Migrate RAID
or
Delete Logical Drive
According to my work documentation there should be an "Manage Data Drives" options which allows you to add drives to the existing RAID. The example is using a raid 1.
Even after doing some Google searching ever example is with a RAID 1. Can this not be done with a RAID 10?
Hello,
we have a problem with two same DL380 Gen10 systems. Once ESXi 6.0 is started, keyboard inputs will no longer be accepted or passed through. During the hardware initialization phase you can call the RBSU normally via the iLO 5 Remote Console, where the keyboard inputs are accepted. From the boot process of the ESXi 6.0 keyboard inputs are no longer accepted. One can e.g. do not start the DCUI with F2 or reboot or shut down the ESXi server via F12. HPE support has been around for a while, but so far there is no progress.
Has anyone had such a problem?
Information about the system:
2x DL380 Gen10 systems
ESXi was installed with the HPE ESXi image (HPE-ESXi-6.0.0-Update2-iso-600.9.6.5.7) and then upgraded to build 6921384 with the VUM.
System ROM Version: U30 v1.26
What has already been checked and made:
Access directly via the notebook, connected to the iLO5 port.
Access via the network -> same result.
Various web browsers tried (Internet Explorer 11, Firefox 57.0.4 and Google Chrome 64.0.3282.140.)
Different Java Runtime versions tried (1.6.0-31, 1.8.0-161 and 1.9.01)
The problem also occurs with the .NET Framework.
The problem occurs with all iLO 5 firmware versions (1.10, 1.11, 1.15, 1.17). Currently 1.17 is installed.
An HPE technician has already replaced the system board.
The "persistent mouse and keyboard" option is enabled and disabled.
Does somebody still have an idea?
regards
Alex
Hi All,
I have a new ML110 Gen10 installed with Server 2012 R2. I have two Base System Devices showing in Device Manager that need drivers. From looking at the hardware IDs, I think it may be for iLO but I cannot locate a driver for 2012 R2. Any assistence would be appreciated. Thank you.
Good mornin all,
I have a DL360 G7 running as a VMware host. I have configured snmp through the ESXi software and that is working fine--I can run an snmpwalk and I'm pulling the information. However, when I run an snmpwalk through the iLO port I get this:
Timeout: No Response from 192.168.2.57
I've tried running this with snmp pass-thru enabled and with it disabled but no joy either way.
Unfortunately the rest of my hosts are G9s so I don't have anything to compare the setting to. I did have some G7 machines as VMware hosts a few years ago and I was pulling information from them through Nagios which uses snmp.
Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions or recommendations on how I can get snmp configured so I can get the information I'm after? This is so my Observium server can see into it and alert me when problems arise.
Thanks,
Joe B
Hello.
I have a problem with my Hp Proliant DL380 G4 server. I am not able to get into BIOS. To BIOS because I need to enable Intel VT to be able to install Proxmox.
I have already tried keys like f1, f2, f8, esc, del and f10. F10 just opens ROM-based setup and I am not able to find Intel VT anywhere there.
Thanks.
Hello everyone!
I have to configurate some ILOs from ILO 2 to ILO 4. I would like to set the authentication by using OpenLDAP.
We succed with an ILO 4 DL380 Gen9 version 2.55 but with an older one (ILO 4 Gen8 v. 2.5), we have some problems.
I have few questions:
Can we use OpenLDAP as authentication method under ILO 4 version 2.55? If not, it is possible for example to upgrade an ILO (from which ILO and version ?)? What is the procedure ?
I know that using an Active Directory LDAP will be more appropriate and easier but I would like to try at first with OpenLDAP.
Thank you a lot :)
Best regards,
R.
Hello everybody
I'm trying to get HP SMH running on SUSE Enterprise 10
I made a fresh install of SUSE on a new hard drive
then I used the HP SMART START 8.70 for HP tools
I can launch HP SMH but I do not get any information from my ML350 G6 hardware
By cons if I put the hard drive in a DL380 G7 the HP SMH works properly with the hardware information
Do you have any sugestion?
Hi everyone,
This is in context of ML380 G6. Integrated SmartArray P410i controller with a battery baked-up stock cache module -- I would like to replace the stock battery-backed 512M module with a flash-based one so that no battery is required any longer?
Problem is the maintanence guide of DL380 G6 doens't list the part number of flash based modules compatible with P410i
Is anyone running the newer flash based backup modules with this controller and what is the part number of the flash mased module that you chose to run with your P410i?
Thank you

Hello,
I have iLO4 DL380 Gen9 , I have faced an issue that there is hacking happened on my system and find someone login/logout with System Administrator: 127.0.0.1 (localhost). I changed the passwords and made sure authentication is enabled everywhere but still that hacker can login whereas it is only me who connect directly and there is no new user account added.
Please advise how can I stop that.
