DL380 Gen9 shutdown after P440 error

Good day to all,

We have a DL380 Gen9 with a HP Smart Array P440 Controller and a HP 12Gb DL380 Gen9 SAS Expander Card. The OS is Server 2012 R2.
The other day we noticed that the server was shut down. After a short investigation, I discovered that the P440 controller gave a warning, and after that Windows received a shutdown signal which caused the server to shut down.

From the ILO logs, the warning the P440 reported was this:
59 CautionPOST Message02/12/2018 15:3402/12/2018 15:341Option ROM POST Error: 1788-Slot 3 Drive Array Reports Incorrect Drive Replacement

Nobody was present at, or changed anything on the server at the time.

Upon further investigation, I discovered that the same thing happened last september 2017, but no further investigation was done.  So it appears to be a recurring problem.

The iLO and the Smart Storage Administrator report that currently everything is OK. I checked Cissesrv in the Windows event log, but there were no errors reported.

It's a production system, so before we shut it down and check out the hardware I'd like to ask if there is anybody that is familiar with this problem or has any ideas about it. Maybe due to a bug or something else?

HP DL380 G6 WITH WINDOWS SERVER 2016- can't login

Hi

i have  a DL 380g6 with windows server 2016 installed. every two days the server is locked- can't login, CRTL+aLT+Del nothing happened. RDP server state on connecting.

PING server -reply OK

i swithc off server and on - i can log in. i have azure backup on it and the backup is runing without errors even when server is locked.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

note: Already Applied  HP SSP OCT 2016

HP Microserver gen8 raid

Hi,

I want to know about difference HP SmartArray B120i with FBWC and HP SmartArray P222 with included FBWC.

Is there some reason for buy HP SmartArray P222 for HP Microserver g8 exept buy only FBWC for B120i?
Also, how possible is it add supporting hot-swap HDD for HP Microserver g8?

DL380p System Power Fault Detected - bring back old support site -- or just kill me

OK, I give up.  Spent the last 2 hours trying to research a  problem -- DL380p Gen 8 fails and the only error in the IML is "System Power Fault Detected".   So I figured I'd search for documents with that string... or look through recent firmware update release notes to see if there's a reference for it.   

HA!   You want to do what? Oh, OK, "187,897 results".   25 at a time.  Fight!  No thanks.

Oh wait, I should limit it by product.  OK, 2,818 results for DL380p Gen 8.   Then I search by "System Power Fault Detected".   Now i'ts 2,254 results.  So that means there are only 564 articles/downloads that DON'T relate to "System Power Fault Detected"?   Either the power failure is a whole lot more common than I thought.   

Bring.  Back.  Old.  Site.   Please.

So now I'll just have to call into support and let them research this.  Doesn't seem like a good use of anyone's time.

DL380p Gen 8 Latest firmware - how to find it?

So how does one find the latest BIOS firmware these days?

Bringing up DL380p Gen 8 shows 1,012 results.  Am I supposed to look through all of those?

I tried looking at OS independent but that didn't have it.  I tried Vsphere, and that limited it to 85 results, with firmware for Ilo, Nics, SmartARray, but no motherboard, that i can see, but i gave up after hitting more 3 times.

A couple of Months ago I would have just scrolled down to the BIOS section and looked at the first entry.

In the meantime if anyone has a direct link I'd appreciate it.

could not be authenticated as a genuine HP drive

hi

we have ProLiant DL380p Gen8 with 24 disk connected to P420i (firmware version 8.32)

smart storage administrator gives five warnings:
"600 GB SAS HDD at Port 2I : Box 1 : Bay XX could not be authenticated as a genuine HPE drive. The Smart RAID/HBA controller will not control the LEDs to this drive"
ilo4: Status  Degraded (Not authenticated)

this warning on disks:
Model EG0600FCVBK Firmware Version HPD2
Model EG0600FBVFP Firmware Version HPDE

BUT there is model EG0600FBVFP with Firmware Version HPDE with status OK (see attach)

can anyone helps? how make disks status OK?

Replace faulty Smart Array P410i in a HP ProLiant ML350 G6 ?

Have to replace a faulty Smart Array P410i in a HP ProLiant ML350 G6, and need help.

We have an P410i that appears to have an failure, but only from time to time. It happend to me that on one day i got presented an error (attached a screenshot), whilst on the next everything seems fine. We now have an spare part to swap the deivce, but at time of writing i allready had the HP ProLiant ML350 G6 at the ground and now backup, because non of the documents i had were any kind of helpfully on how to get to the controller. The even worser problem: I found no docs on how to swap that part, or was there any docs part of.

Any help appreciated.

Сервер HP Proliant DL160 Gen9 новый (приобрели в 2016 году, но так получилось что распаковали только вчера), только что включили и поставили ОС MS Windows Server 2012 и все необходимые драйвера, прошивки и компоненты из HP SPP 2017-07-02 (файл SPP2017072.2017_0922.6 объём 4,67 ГБ  - 5 021 483 008 байт), в меню HPE Smart Storage Administrator на контроллерах выводятся следущие мессаджи:

на P440-м:

  • 856 The cache for Smart Array P440 in Slot 2 is disabled due to a cable error from the Smart Storage Battery.
 
на B140i RAID:
  • 267 There are no configurable physical drives attached to the current array controller.

    If this controller is being used as a host controller for tape devices only, please disregard this warning.

    If this controller is being used as a host controller for an external controller, the physical drives attached to the external controller will only be visible by selecting the external controller.

    If the controller is not being used as a host controller, one of the following could cause the problem:
    • There are no supported drives attached to the controller.
    • A data cable has a bad connection.
    • Two or more drives have duplicate SCSI IDs.
    • Power to the external drives is off.
    • The OS array controller driver is missing.

     

    BBU на контролере P440 (и на B140i RAID) вроде бы нету в привычном для BBU виде. Что делать ?

HP System Management and iLO not giving consistent data on ProLiant ML350P Gen8

Hi,

 

Today our server had an issue that forced us to unplug one of the power cords.

 

When unplugged, both our System Management Homepage and iLO agreed there was something wrong with power input.

 

Now, after plugging the power input back in the iLO is telling us everything is OK, System-health wise. But our HP System Management Homepage is still saying there's an issue with power (Status: Power Input Loss).

 

Does anyone know how to fix this?

DL380 G4 cannot get into iLO during post or access it via LAN

Hello.

I have a problem with iLO (2 I think). When I start my DL380 G4 there is no message to press F8 to get into iLO settings during post. Neither I can access it via LAN even trough iLO port has link.

Is it possible to somehow disable iLO? Is there a way to reset to factory defaults? Do you know how to get into iLO settings on the machine?

SPP install with system account

As part of automating my build I'm I'm trying to install SPP.  I've confirmed the package I've created for this works as intedned however when I run it as part of my build automation running under the "NT\System" account the SPP install continues to fail. 

When I run the automation under an administrator account it works.  Does SPP for windows require any specif account for it to work?

Smart Carrier or Drive Caddie for ML110 Gen10

I am unsure if this is the correct location for this question however, I have just recently purchased an HP ML110 Gen10. My problem is that I have a large volume of 1TB Enterprise drives laying around and would prefer to use my own drives on the server.  No matter who I ask or who I  question, I cant get a straight answer as to what will or will not work as far as the caddy for my drives to go in. The server is entry level and takes 3.5" LFF 6G SATA drives. The unit is non hot pluggable but I am unable to find what caddie is required to interface with the drive cage in this server. I have some Gen8/Gen9 caddies (non hot plug) that do NOT work. I spent an hour on the phone with tech support this morning trying to get an answer from one of the HPE technicians to no avail. If you have any input on this, I would really appreciate some guidance. The technician did tell me that if I wanted to purchase drives (as this is the only way he knows to get the caddies) I could purchase these part numbers:

861686-B21

801882-B21

861681-B21

801884-B21

HP Proliant DL20 Gen9 - Create a Raid 1

Hi,

In advance, sorry for my english.

I'd like to create a Raid 1 on a ProLiant DL20 to assure a continuity of service. A produciton system is already installed on this server, I've made a backup of all my VMs but I want to reduce my downtime as much as possible.

My question is, can I create a Raid 1 with the HP smart storage without erasing my HDD ? I'm new with the HP products and I don't want to do any mistake.

ILO and OpenLDAP

Hello everyone!

I have to configurate some ILOs  from ILO 2 to ILO 4. I would like to set the authentication by using OpenLDAP.

We succed with an ILO 4 DL380 Gen9 version 2.55 but with an older one (ILO 4 Gen8 v. 2.5), we have some problems.

I have few questions:

Can we use OpenLDAP as authentication method under ILO 4 version 2.55? If not, it is possible for example to upgrade an ILO (from which ILO and version ?)? What is the procedure ?

 

I know that using an Active Directory LDAP will be more appropriate and easier but I would like to try at first with OpenLDAP.

DL980 G7 E7 not starting

Hello,

I have an HP DL980 G7 E7 which is not starting.

It starts 4 times for about 2 seconds, then flashes red health on the SID.

It is running with 8 E7 4850 CPUs, all of them verified to work in another server.

It also has amber LED on XNC. The XNC has been replaced with a working one but still I get the error.

The XNC cables have been verified to be correct 3 times.

I don't know iLO IP of the server to get details.

I tried removing the battery from the SPI board for 10 minutes and booting up again

I tried removing the XNC board and lower CPU tray (Only running 4 CPUs) I still get XNC error

I tried pulling out all expansion cards (Controller, SSDs, HBA cards)

The LED on the systemboard is writing 80 and 00, changing each second

What else can I try?
