Good day folks,

Looking for some advice reference the hard disk drive compatibility for the DL360 Gen 9, can i use off the shelf SSD Drives in this server or do i have to use the HPe branded ones? basically my budget is just about spent on the server and the OS 2016 SRVR Standard in a RAID 5, the hp drives as much as i would prefer to use them are pretty much more expensive than some of the off the shelf ones availible, any advice on this would be very much appreciated.................Brian

HP ProLiant DL380 G5 Server: is the power supply really broken?

I have a HP ProLiant DL380 G5 Server with a redundant power supply.

After more than one year I noticed the "External health LED (power supply)" was amber: "Power redundancy failure." The power supply on bay n. 1 was degraded as I could seen on the front panel, from the bios startup and from the back of the server too.

image 1.jpgPower supply failure

I rapidly ordered a spare part but, after it arrived, I run to replace the power supply with the new one and I found that the power supply was regularly working.

How is it possible?

What have I to do?

Cannot access DL380 G7 iLO

We have a production ProLiant DL380 G7 on which we cannot access the iLO 3.

Connecting it to the network, the link light on the port comes on and the activity light flashes but we cannot find it in DHCP, nor can we find any static IP within a range which we use. As this is a production server we cannot just reboot and configure the iLO via the start-up menus.

Trying to connect via the web interface on the preconfigured address (https://ilo********) brings up a connection failure in both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Can anyone suggest how we can find out what IP address this iLO has?

HPE "approved" KVM list for use with ML350 Gen 10

I am looking for a list of "approved" KVMs for use with ML350 Gen10 servers.  We currently have a Tripp Lite Model # B042-016 connected and would like to know if HPE supports this configuration.

Drive Array needs rebuild but doesn't rebuild.

We have a ProLiant server with Smart Array P440ar controller.

Since about two weeks the "don't remove" lights on some of the SAS drives are on.

If we reboot it, it shows in the post screen:

"Embedded RAID : Smart Array P440ar Controller - Configuration Required

- 1786-Slot 0 Drive Array Recovery Needed The following SAS/SATA drive(s)

need Automatic Data Recovery (Rebuild): Port 1I, box:6, bay: 4 (SAS)

The Smart Storage Administrator software shows the status "Ready for Rebuild" on our RAID5 Array. We have two arrays: A RAID1 with two disks (obviously) and a RAID5 with three disks. The error status is given for the RAID5.

It's been like this for days. We tried to shut down the virtual servers for a week-end in order to give the server "rest" because I read somewhere that the rebuild might not start if there is too much load on the drives. However it also didn't start with the virtual servers shut down.

Here's the link to the ADu Report (since I can only attach Pictures in this forum): http://strategyplayer.net/downloads/offtopic/ADUReport1.zip

My knowledge isn't good enough to read something useful form it.

Any help appreciated!

ML350 G6 doesn't recognise any RAM

We have an HP ML350 G6 server with only 1x 2..26G 80W proc, populated with 54GB RAM and 6x 300GB SAS drives in a RAID10 config.

3x 2GB 2Rx8 PC3L 10600R Samsung (white slots) and

6x 8GB  2Rx4 PC3L 10600R Samsung

The server worked fine for about a year, until we relocated it over the weekend. Upon switching it on again on Sunday, it would not POST. No display. No BIOS. It simply will not completed the POST, ending each try with every LED next to every RAM SLOT illuminated RED and really long intermittended beeps.

Via ILO, we saw "Memory Configuration Error: System boot halted".

Regardless of all possible memory configurations we tried, every attempt has ended exactly the same. Every LED next to every RAM SLOT illuminated and really long intermittended beeps.

Even unplugging every possible peripheral, with just one or two RIMMS, the POST will not complete.

I've tried other RIMM memory, same result.

I've tried the 1,5,6 DIP switch settings, with button cell battery removed. Same result.

I've left it unplugged for an evening. Same result.

I've left it plugged in for an evening. Same result.

I've sworn at it. Same result.

I;ve begged it, Same result.

The server is simply refusing to recognise any RAM stick during POST and three days later, nobody seems willing to understand my situation.

Is there any good soul that could help me fix my aura ?

HPE Windows Raid Controller Drivers not exposing S.M.A.R.T. Values / SSD Wear Level

Hello,

with the Linux Drivers it's possible to directly access Drives behind HPE Smart Array Controllers (CCISS, https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki/Supported_RAID-Controllers) to get S.M.A.R.T Values / SSD Wear Level, unfortunately this is not possible with the Windows Drivers. As we use central Nagios/Icinga Instances for Server Monitoring it would be more than handy if you could expose those Data with Windows Drivers too ... I guess there are no technical Problems which would prevent this ...

thx, bye from Austria

Hello,

I am having some real problems getting power to my 4 SATA drives connected to my new HBA (9300-i8).

I do not understand where the power should come from.

The setup I want to use is a single SSD connected from the B140i (I want the fans to be quite) and the rest of the SATA drives connected to the HBA.

I appreciate ANY help here.

DL585 G7 HBA compatibility

I need to replace a DL380 G6 running ESXi 5.5 at a remote site with a newer server that is capable of running ESXi 6 update 3. The DL380 has a StorageWorks P2000 G3 connected by two QLogic ISP2432 4GB HBAs. There may be a DL585 G7 available at another site and I am trying to determine if the QLogic HBAs in the DL380 can be moved into the DL585 so that the P2000 can be connected. I confirmed that the HBAs are supported in ESXi 6 but the P2000 is not listed as offcially supported. Does anyone know if the HBAs will work in the DL585?

Proliant DL360Gen9 config with scripting tools

$

Hi,

I have a Proliant DL360 Gen9 and need to config all UEFI settings with scripts.
I use conrep to set all the UEFI settings I need.

I have a HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter installed and need to set the following:

I need to set F9 -> System Utilities -> System Configuration -> Slot 2 Port1 : HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter - NIC -> Device Level Configuration -> Shared Memory Features -> Disabled

This setting is not saved in the config file generted with conrep -s because it's "outside" of the RBSU settings.

What linux scripting tool can I use to get to this setting?

Thanks.

I have a DL380 G7 server which we are reusing for backups.

I recently took a working Ultra 320 ISCI card PCI X from a server we are decomissioning and decided to add it to it so we could hook up an autoloader drive.

Put it in via a PCI-X slot and the server refuses to boot, any ideas??

Replacing SAS drives to SSD drive on Proliant DL360p servers

Hello,
One of my HP DL360P servers will be upgraded with SSD drives. I have two arrays. The first one use raid 1 for the operating system. The second array uses RAID 1+0 on 6 drives. I want to replace the second array with larger and faster SSD drives. My question is very simple. Can i disable the second array and replace the drive with SSD while the machine is running, or do I have to shutdown the machine, replace the drives and then configure them in the Smart Storage Administrator? Sorry if my question seems stupid but since I haven't done this on an HP server with a Smart Array P420i, I prefer to ask first in case I am missing something. Thanks in advance.
