DL380P G10 P816 Controller Disks only 1.7TB iso 4TB (UBUNTU 14.04)

setup:

all 4TB disks are configured as single disk raid0 configs, BIOS, raid controller and ILO see 4TB disks, when in the OS I only see 1.7TB

HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 Riser card gets no power in its 10 pin plug

hi guys,

i recently bought a Proliant 380p Gen 8 and installed a Nvidia Grid K2 card into its PCI-e riser card. but there's no power in the 10 pin riser card plug. i had to use another power supply from another PC to power the graphic card in order to have it function. the 10 pin to pci-e 6 pin+8pin cable was purchased on ebay. i'm not sure if that cable just provide 12 v power, or there's any regulatory connection in there, but when i test the 12 volts connection on the riser card with a multimeter, there was almost no voltage. can any of the HPE experts help?

Cahange fan ML 110 G9

Hello good afternoon.

I was interested in changing the main fan, for a quieter one that had more air flow. I have found for sale the original fan that is for processors up to 140 W (I have been looking for the specifications of this fan, but I have not found them), but it is worth € 50, and I find it too expensive.

I have seen that the Noctua fans and others do not have the same connector as the official fans.

Is there any type of connector that can be used to use other fans on this server, or would I have to cut cables and splice them?

If any of you have had experiences, I would be grateful.

Hi Team, 

We are facing alert "Not be Authenticated As Genuine HPE drive" on 4 HDDs on Bay, 1, 2, 3 & 4. Remaining 4 HDDs showing normal status in SSA or in other logs.

Below steps performed but still same issue:

1) Upgrade firmwares.

2) Replaced one HDD in Bay 4 for just checking

3) Replaced SAS/SATA backplane

4 ) Replaced SAS Expander Card.

But still faced the below alert in SSA and in other logs. need help or advise, please.

Hi gurus.

I have a legacy DL360 G9 , never worked with HP servers before so go easy on me, I have installed 560flr-sfp+ adapter  and I would like to update drivers and firmware, but I can only access this server using its ILO, can some one let me know how to accomplish this, it seems like the Virtual Media is very limited to ISO and I could not find any ISO image of the FW or driver.

DL380e G8 12 bay LFF P420 Fan Speed

I've done some research, and i want to see if anyone has figured out how to lower the fan speed on fans 4,5, &6 on a 12lff DL380e G8 with the p420 controller installed. I have a separate 80mm fan blowing directly on the controller keeping it around 58-62c under load. I've seen another user mention that he was manually able to adjust the speed by debugging the ilo, but no mention of how to actually do that. Thank you to anyone that can help.

Gather the LED data via raw IPMI commands

Hello!
I want to monitor System health state using a System health LED. (ProLiant DL180 Gen9, System ROM U20 v2.20)
Syshealth IPMI sensor always show "0" like in this article:

I read in this article about solution:

Additionally, IPMITOOL is not able to interpret properly the LED values. The way to gather the data will be via raw IPMI commands. The return values will be:
The “Sys. Health LED” has a sensor type OEM LED (0xC0) and EventReadingTypeCode = HealthLED: (0x71) 

0x0001 = Green.
0x0002 = Amber.
0x0004 = Red.

I read IPMi documentation and canot find how I can use "sensor type" and  "EventReadingTypeCode" to get sensor data.


ipmitool -I lanplus -U Administrator -P Password -H 192.168.1.2 -p 623 -v raw <netfn> <cmd> [data]
I have tried: raw 0x04 (sensor Function) 0x2d (Get Sensor Reading cmd) 0x02 (Syshealth LED sensor ID)
This is output: 00 e0 01 80
But this is not what I need.

Can anyone help me?

ESXi 6.5 U2 and HP Microserver Gen8

Hi,

 I updated ESXi 6.5 U1 build 7967591 on my HP Microserver Gen8. New version is ESXi 6.5 U2. Everything works but i have one problem. In the Monitor,  tab Hardware, part System sensors and Storage are devices with unknown health. Picture in attachement. What is problem? In previous version was all ok.

Of course I used HPE Custom Image for VMware ESXi 6.5 U2 Install CD ( VMware-ESXi-6.5.0-Update2-8294253-HPE-preGen9-650.U2.9.6.7.1-May2018.iso)

Smart Array P440ar how many RAID possible?

hello,

We have a new client, he already have a HP server Proliant ML350 Gen9 with Smart Array P440ar in Embedded Slot. He already have a RAID5 with 300Gb disk, and we would like add a new RAID 5 with 600Gb disk.

Is it possible to have 2 RAID on this  Smart Array controler ?

There is a client for xenserver to dowenload or there is another solution for shutdown the server and VM?

Hi, I see my company has new Servers with 16G FC initiators and trying to connect to the storage MSA 2050 with 8G target to host ESXi servers and some application for testing.   Just wanted to confirm that all the servers initiators will get only 8G automatically, and no need of any special configuration due to the different speed of links between the node and target. The FC switch is 16G.

Issue with ILO Self-Test error only when quad rank memories installed

Hi Fellas,

I have got an issue everytime when I populate HP 380g8 with quad rank memories always ILO kick off self-error test. Is there any connection between memory rank and ILO ?

[Bug report] ILO4 .NET Remote + Windows 1803

Hi,

i just wanted to report a annoying "bug" I noticed in ILO 4 (still present in 2.6) . When you want to start a .NET remote session on Windows 1803 with Mircosoft Edge, it thows a Error in console that I'm trying to open a unsecure session over a secure connection and nothing else happens.

I think it's because ILO generates the session link with http://.... and not with https://....
If I'm right this should be a easy fix.

PS: I wanted to contact the support, but It seems like I need a valid warranty and my expired last year.

ilo4 - change password lenght with hponcfg

I try to set the password for ilo4 with cli command in linux with a prepared xml file.

I need to set a password thats shorter than 8 digits.
Of course it is possible to change this value in the Access Settings for ilo in Intelligent Provisioning.

But I need to be ablle to set the minimum password lenght with hponcfg.
Google search and HP docs didn't return any  useful infos.

Does anybody know what value  I have to add to the xml file, so I can change the minimum password lenght and the password?
