Hello,

I have a problem with my HP ProLiant ML350 Gen9 server. After update firmware P440ar one of eight oryginal disks (HP 1TB MM1000FBFVR) is alerting. Logs below:

Warning: Device carrier authentication failed. This is not an authentic HPE carrier. I/O operations to the device will not be affected, but the Smart Array controller will not control the LEDs to this device.

Option ROM POST Information: 1709-Slot 0 Drive Array - One or more drives could not be authenticated as genuine drives. Smart Array will not control the LEDs to these drives.

I tried to replace disk slots, downgrade firmware but problem still exists. Problem exist since I removed these disk from slot and move it again.

P.S

Server does not have SAS Expander, only Smart Array Controller P440ar

Hey!

We recently bought a new G10 microserver for some light services. We are trying to run Windows Server 2016 essential on it. The thing is when we have any occupation in the HDD trays the server does not boot or even give the option to go into boot menu/bios and is in an infinite loop. As soon as I remove all the HDD's the server responds as to be expected and immediatly gives me the BIOS options.

If anyone would happen to know a fix, or cause for this you would help us allot!

Thanks in advance!

I am trying to remotely install the Firmware updates (cp023887.exe, cp028699.exe, cp029120.exe & cp030725.exe) using PowerShell.

These Firmware updates are for a "Smart Array P420i Controller" on an HP DL380p Gen:8 server.

The installation keep causing the remote server to crash& reboot or do not install the update at all.

Does anyone have any examples on how this remote installation can be done?

Thanks...

All 10GB NICs for DL380 Gen10 retired?

Hi.
Was looking for possible replacement cards for HPE 562FLR-SFP+ 10GB 2 port card and I noticed that all of the  10GB Networkcards on the DL380 Gen10 is retired as of August 2018. But they are still there on the quickspec and it seems no replacements has been added.

Someone know if it's a misstake or what Networkcards to use instead?

System ROMPaq Firmware for HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 (P70) Servers

Good Day Experts

We recently upgraded the System ROM or BIOS firmware to the latest version recommended at the moment ( Version : 2018.05.21  released on 25 Jun 2018).

We noticed after the upgrade that the "Redundant System ROM" firmware was not changed to the same version as the "System ROM" firmware version and still contain an old version.

Our Questions are :

1- What's the recommended combinaision we should have for "System ROM" and it's "Redunandant System ROM" firmware versions ?

2- How do we update the "Redunandant System ROM" firmware ?

Looking to hear from you.

Thank you in advance

Hard Disk Firmware cannot get updated

Hi

We have a Proliant DL380 G7 with RAID controller Smart Array P410i (Embedded Slot) with Windows Server 2012, we also have 4 Physical Hard Disk from 3  different models:

EG0300FBLSE
DG0300FAMWN
EG0300FBVFL

We configure them as RAID 1+0 and Install HP "Smart Storage Administrator" program to monitor our RAID hard disk, It give us warning:

A firmware update is recommended for this physical drive. Model: HP EG0300FBLSE

2 of 4 physical Hard Disks are HP EG0300FBLSE , so I receive 2 of above message.
So I download this firmware:
Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - EG0300FBLSE
This is firmware version HPD5. I also have tried the latest version HPD8.
These updater programs runs fine with success message and then instruct us to reboot windows, but after rebooting,  this HDD`s firmware do not changed, and I firmware version is still HPD2.
This is the part of cpqsetup.log, related to running this updater:

Setup Session Beginning 11/20/2018 - 15:30:48 PM

Name: Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - EG0300FBLSE, EG0450FBLSF, EG0600FBLSH, and EG0900FBLSK drives
New Version: HPD5

Determining component installation state...
The software is installed but is not up to date.

Current Version:
Product ID EG0300FBLSE, Version HPD2: 2 found

Drive ROM is not up to date

The installation procedure was completed successfully.

A reboot is required to finish the installation completely.

Additional Information:
As part of the reboot process, you must power cycle the server and any external array storage devices.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
End Session
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also tried DVD "Service Pack for ProLiant", hopping it use direct firmware update and don`t differ firmware upgrade for next boot, but this DVD still updates using differed mode and I wasn`t succeed to update with this DVD either.
I have good experience with hardware and firmware updating, and I was able to update firmware for 2 other  HDD models in our RAID configuration, but EG0300FBLSE HDD`s firmware refuses to get updated.

What happens after rebooting the server? Which updating mechanism is used during windows booting? what should I do to update this HDD`s firmware?

Thankyou in advanced.

i cant get a used and refurbished ML350p Gen8 Server for a good price. I need a powerful machine for CAD and 3D printing and I'm currently running a z800 with two x5670. I need to upgrade and can buy a ML350p Gen8. We will install a Graphics card (Quadro K6000) and want to install Windows 7 or Windows 10.

Can Windows 7 / 10 be installed on a ML350p Gen8 ? What are the components of the HP Graphics card support kit ? Is it more than a power cable for a Quadro ? It is impossible to buy a HP Graphic card support kit  for the ML350.

HPE ML10 GEN 9 SERVER => Hardware RAID

$

Dear all,

for our Dubai location our hardware reseller recommended us that server including a "RAID-5 with 4 SATA 2TB disks". It sounded good, price was cheap, so we ordered it. Travelled to Dubai to setup the server (Windows Server 2012 R2). We found out very soon then that the RAID is a software based RAID. Not happy with it but gave it a shot (configured the disks as a RAID-5 with 4 disks), installed Windows Server 2012 R2 on it. Now the problems began. Crap performance, system hangs for minutes when copying data or doing several tasks on the server. RDP session hangs sometimes for 20 minutes until it comes back. This configuraion is just not useful.

We to to upgrade that server now with a hardware RAID-controller and/or SAS disks. Can anyone recommend which (HP) RAID controller is compatible with that server? Or should we try to give the server back?

Thanks,
Sven

Good Day Experts

As stated in the below reference, the server can host 25 SFF hard drives. Do you have the official procedure to extend from 8 to 16 by removing the optical drive cage and then the procedure to extend from 16 to 25.

If there is any movie that explain the steps, please share the link, it will be more helpfull.

We noticed in the iLo4 web interface under 'System Information' that storage information is not populated and at Device Inventory we don't have details for this Embedded Storage Controller.

Just note that server run on OS RHEL 6.5 and iLo FW 2.61

Any idea ?

Any helpful CLI commands ?
