Hello, I have a Proliant DL380 G8 running WIndows Server 2012R2 with a Dynamic Smart Array B320i raid controller.
I have two logical drives, each one is RAID 1 with two 931GB Sata Drives. I also have an identical drive as spare.
Since a week from now, one of the alarm lights on the server started blinking, when I go to the System Management Home Page, it says one of the logical drives is "Recovering" and it's been like this for a week now.
If I go to the ACU it says the logical drive is rebuilding at 0.14%, after a week?
The ACU warning is: "778 The array controller is rebuilding (Rebuilding) Logical Drive 1 (931.5 GB, RAID 1)."
I tought it was a drive failure and the controller would activate the spare, however toomouch time has passed and the situation is the same.
If I try to shutdown the server, instead of shutting down, it restarts after a while and the cycle goes on and on.
How do I break this cycle or force a rebuild using the spare? Can I pull out the drive generating the issue and the controller will rebuild on the spare automatically?
When I run the Insight Diagnostics on the logical drive it says : "Error: F149: The controller has reported a S.M.A.R.T. error on this drive., This drive has experienced/recorded error conditions reported by diagnosis and requires replacement. "
So, what would be the safest route for this problem? Thanks a lot for your input
