ML30 Gen 10 Intelligent Provisioning not working

Intelligent Provisioning does not appear to work properly when I can finally get to the configuration page. If a usb flash drive is inserted in the internal of front usb ports, the system hangs until I remove the flash drive. It also does not recognize the iso on the flash drive. My remaining option is to attach a virtual drive with the iso. I used the Express OS Install method. Now it's hanging at 91.3% for the past 45 minutes. At some point earlier this week, I was able to install Windows Server 2016 and update the firmware using the latest HP SPP. HP recommended I reset some dip switches. The System Maintenance Switch, position 1,3, 5 and  6. Now I'm stuck. This model server is also not HP certified to use Server 2019 for some reason.

ML350e g8 v2 - Additional LFF 4-bay cage

Hello.

I've recently purchased a ML350e G8 v2 used, and it has one 4-bay cage already installed.

I'm looking to install a second cage, but I can't seem to find any vendors with the cage in stock. Is 741741-B21 still a product which is manufactured and sold by retailers, or is there a different product number?

I found a site which is selling 686745-002, and claims it to be for ML350e g8, but doesn't indicate v2. Does anyone know if this cage will work in the v2 model?

Thank you for your assistance!

How to clear CMOS MEBx on a ProLiant ML10 Gen9

Hello,

Yesterday I set a MEBx password on our new ProLiant ML10 Server, and even though I wrote it up I cannot login to MEBx today. btw. The password policy "special characters" isn't pretty user friendly unless one have an US keyboard.

However - now I need to reset CMOS to reset the password, but nobody at HP seemt to know how. I already had extensive contact with the support team as the first server came with an already set password. But nobody could help me.

Someone from the support suggested to remove the BIOS battery.
Some manuals speak about a (non existing) "F10 Setup"
The User Guide https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04070849 mentions a "maintainance switch" but doesn't tell where it's located.

In the end I returned the server to my dealer and got a new one. But now I'm facing the same problem again.

So the 1 million dollar question is:
How can I reset the CMOS on a ProLiant ML10 Gen9?

Edit: I just found out that Caps lock was activated on my service keyboard (had no LED for that). So the password is correct.

However, the initial question still remains unanswered. It doesn't promote my confidence in a product if nobody can tell me how to use it :-(

How to setup KVM manually on ProLiant ML10 Gen9

Hi,

I am trying to set up AMT and KVM using the manual mode described here: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04996527

I can connect to the machine via the AMT Website using the the 16992 port, but I can't make KVM work.
Have I getting it wrong and this website is all that the proLiant ML10 offers? I don't hope so.

There are some unclear points in the user manual. Mayby someone can clarify it to me:
(I am using DHCP mode and have enabled "everything".)

- page 9 of the manual: What is the "domain name" for? I don't have an SCS (that's why I'm in the manual setup mode). What can I enter here? We don't have (use) an explicit domain here - just a bunch of computers and a samba file server.
I also don't understand the "Dynamic dns Update" entry. Is that needed?

- page 10: "Transition to the newly-provisioned state"
1. select "Activate Network Access" from the Intel AMT configuration menu.
There is no menu entry "Activate Network Access" in my AMT configuration manu.

Who can enlighten me?

Expanding RAID 1 from 2 to 4TB without adding drives - Proliant Microserver Gen 8 - B120i

 Hi all,

This is my first post here, not sure if i chose the right category so please move if i chose wrong.

I am the happy owner of a Proliant Microserver Gen 8, it fulfilling its purpose as backup server for my photography and media. for the backup i have a RAID 1 array of 2x2tb in bay 1 and 2. the drives in 3 and 4 are simple volumes. its running perfectly smooth for the past year.

The 2x2TB RAID array was getting full, so i ordered 2x4TB drives. i first removed bay 3 and 4, and made a backup of my RAID aray in bay 1 and 2. i swapped out bay 1 for a 4TB and let it rebuild. windows boots, all is fine. i swap out bay 2 for a 4TB and let it rebuild again. after some boot issues where the correct bootsequence was lost this also booted correctly after changing the bootsequence.  (it boots from SSD on bay 5)

- the question: so i now have a working 1.8 TB RAID 1 on a set drives of 4TB. i now need to extend the RAID to its full capacity. i only find topics concerning extending RAIDs by adding physical drives or creating new logical volumes on the array, not by replacing them for bigger drives and expanding the original logical volume. i do not find any options to extand/expand/increase the storage size of this RAID1 to 4TB.

Is there any outline of these steps? or previous post you guys recall that i could not find?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Mike.

Hi,

I try to install Windows Server 2012 R2 on a brand new ML110, i100 Raid, 2 x 1TB, 32GB Ram, but it fails.

Last command is rmdir c:\boot. I checked out c:, but there is no such directory, so he is right, unfortunately.

Whats wrong here?

.iso is directly from Microsoft.

With best regards

Gerhard

HP DL380P Gen8 - SQL database server -Raid 5 setup - Now need to add more SAS HDD to existing RAID

Dear Friends,

I have two HP DL380p GEN8 hardware setup with same configurations.

Using this for SQL database server service

HyperV replications enabled for Virtual Host (SQL Database server) between two servers. SO if any one HP 380p Gen8 hardware fails other server will take over.

Easch Server has 5 SAS 300GB HDD - RAID 5 Configured with 1 spare hdd so usable space is around -850GB usable.

Now the issue is in SQL database server i have two partiions c: drive for windows and d: drive for sql data files.

We are running out of space in D: drive SQL data so I need to expand this drive for more space - like currently free space is only 100GB so need to increase it till  around 800GB or more.

I have three empty bay now so can add maximum three more SAS harddisk.

Questions -

1.- How to add more HDD without disturbing the existing RAID configuration. since this is production server so not want to loose any data.

DL 385 G7 with dual 10g sfp card can't upload more than 11.5 Gbps

Dear community

We have a HP dl385 g7 with following spec:
CPU: AMD Opteron 6234 x2
RAM: 8G x10
HDD: Samsung 2TB EVO 860 x 7 + (250GB x 1)
Network Card: intel x520 dp sfp+

Based on HP manual for dl385 g7 maximum storage of SFF SATA is 6.4 TB but we are using about 14TB HDD. we host a movie download website with high trafic of 14Gbps. The upload speed in Cacti doesn't go more than 10.5 Gb and it is capped at that value. Can you help us to see which of hardwares caused this limit? It seems that more HDD usage than HP manual doesn't cause any trouble and the manual just stated that as a suggestion. We also add another 10G card and used port channeling to use one port of each card independantly. The result was better but only increased the upload speed to 11.5 Gbps.

Tnx

HPE ML110 G10 Replacement Bezel

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me, purchased a new HP ML110 G10 (P03685-425) and unfortunately during the installation the engineer dropped it and the front bezel has cracked. I've gone onto the partsurfer to see if the replacement bezel is there, no luck. I've contacted HPE direct and logged and call still no luck. There are no part numbers on inside of the bezel, there are some numbers but not relevant to any parts. The server itself is absolutely fine and in working condition, it would just be nice to be able to replace the bezel as it's unsightly! If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Need Help Reconfiguring an HP DL360 G7

I'm trying to reconfigure this HP DL360 G7 server. It was used as a windows server but was replaced with a new server when the Raid Controller cache went corrupt and we couldn't resolve the issue.

I'm trying to re-purpose the server as a PFSense firewall. Since it's already paid for any just sitting around, I was planning on replacng the old Dell desktop running PFSense with a server running the newer version. Right now, I'm experimenting to see if I can load the older version of PFSense on the new 320 GB Sata drives.

Here is what I've done:

1. Replaced the three SAS 146 GB drives with two Sata 320 GB drives. I tried booting from the CD Rom to load a Linux based OS but can't get the CD-Rom to read. The LED does not lite up.

2. I've tried reconfiguring the HD controller order and selected One Tine Boot from CDRom

it always tries to boot from the hd. It does not say if it's tring to access the Sata or SAS controller.

If you can suggest how to get the CD -Rom to read so I can try booting from it, tjhat would help.

Thanks in advance for your help.

ML350e g8 v2 - 6 pin fan connector question.

Hello!

I've purchased a ML350 G8 V2 for personal use, and it is currently sitting in my home office, near me while I work. It is quite loud, even at idle.

I'm looking to replace the fans with some Noctua 92mm fans, but I need to know what type of connector the 6-pin connector is.

It's a 2x3 connector, looks almost like a miniature PCI-E power connector. Research has led me to Molex 'Mega Fit Connectors' - but based on the picture, I have no way to tell if it is the correct size fitment... If anyone has any specific data on this, I'd love to hear from you!

I need to find this type of connector and the pins, so I can try to replace the fans with quiet, static pressure fans from Noctua.

Thanks for any detail you can provide!

Hi  Community,

Building a new Proliant DL360 G10 server in UEFI mode.  OS installed is 2012 r2 standard.   2 x 600 GB HDD in raid 1  partitioned as 100 GB for C and 458 GB for F.  I am able to see additional 2 Disk in Diskmanagement showing 558 GB of unallocated space which should not be the case.  How do i fix this ?

Multiple syslog destinations in an automated way

$

I'm looking for a way to set multiple remote syslog destinations. I have found out it is possible to add multiple hosts via semicolon (although it is not covered in official iLO User guide):

iLO_multiple_syslog_dest.png

However if I put such concatanated hosts through Redfish API call, it fails with 400 - Base.0.10.PropertyValueFormatError. Putting the hosts in JSON array doesn't work either.

Is there any way how to set up multiple syslog destination using automated (agent-less) way? I'm also curious if the feature to put semicolon for more hosts is covered in any documentation?
