Very noisy HP DL380 G6

Hi All,

I have a question about a DL380 G6 Server that i Own.     I know that i am not suppost to run server 2012 R2 on it but it works.

BUT

I also placed a videocard in the PCI Express slot ( PCI-e X8) it is a nvidea Geforce GT 440.                                     the system does see the videocard and accepts the drivers BUT when i turn the server on i start to make a lot off noise.    a few of the fans seem to go grazy ,  is there any way to stop this ?

Ii need to work on that server because my other Work Computer is in repair and that takes a long time , otherwhgise i would not do such crazy things with a server.

Proliant Ml350 G6, updating bios, and seeing bigger disk's

Hi 

I have a ProLiant ML350 G6, the bios is 2010 vintage which bios to update to? Too many on the list.

If the bios is flashed will that allow the server to see bigger disks in raid.

Will that allow the raid controller to be able to see bigger disks? Ive shucked a 500Gb Sata disk which is seen(RAID), however my 1Tb and 3Tb drives are not seen by the RAID controller. I have them hooked up to the MBoard direct and they (1Tb/3Tb disks), can be seen. This interface is meant for optical drives I think(item[25][Sata connections] x6)

So two simple questions for you, any help gratefully received.

How do you configure a P408i-a & a E208i-p smart array controllers in a dl360 gen10 server?

Having issues trying to create a RAID 1 for my OS on either one of these smart array controllers. Anyone have any insights?

Current Config:

DL360GEN10

P408i-a onboard & E208i-p in a PCI slot

2 300GB SAS 10K for OS / 8 900GB SAS 15K for DATA

Server 2016

Used the P11740_001_spp-2018.11.0-SPP2018110.2018_1114.38.iso for firmware/driver updates.

ML30 Gen9 Status Degraded

Hi,

I have problem with HPE ProLiant ML30 Gen9 server, health LED is flashing orange all the time. When I open the iLO it's shows System Health Degraded. Does anyone know how to fix this.

ML310E Gen8 V2 and P410 Smart Array

Hi all,

New to forum, not so new to Servers and Windows NT, Server 2003/8 etc and Novell.
I have an HP ML310E Gen8 V2 server with 4 x 4tb HDDs, I’m hoping to use Raid 5 and the onboard only allows 0, 1 & 10 iirc, I’ve been recommended to find a HP P410 Controller with 1gb and battery and have been assured it will work, however the company trying to sell me some Ram and Controller are saying the controller won’t work and I need the P420 which is natural more expensive.

Can anyone confirm they’ve had a P410 working in the same server?
I’m itching to buy the controller but can’t afford to make a mistake and then end up with a controller that is no use or even worse can’t resell it.

DL380 ILO 5 issue AD logon in High Security mode

Somewhat new to all this. Trying to configure ilo 5 on two new DL380. If I leave it in Production mode I can logon to the ilo through a browser using a local account and also an AD account. When I switch to High Security mode the local still works but the AD account gives me an authorization failure after entering my credentials. Any ideas? I've tried Edge, IE 11, and Chrome all with TLS 1.2 active

Enabling Proliant ML310E gen8 v2 Intel graphics (i3-4130)

Hi guys,

We have been lucky enough to inherit a Proliant ML310E gen8 v2 with Intel i3-4130 CPU, 16GB RAM.  We have managed to install Windows 10 on it, however it does not seem to pick up the Intel GPU within the CPU - and so instead, it is using the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" (the only entry underneath "Display Adapters" in Device Manager.

Attempting to install the Intel graphics driver for the i3-4130 doesn't work - an error is returned saying the computer doesn't meet their requirements.

Is there a BIOS setting or some other way to get it to detect the inbuilt Intel GPU, or install its driver?

DL360 Gen6 with Win2016 server bare metal or ESXi?

Hi there,

I do have an HP Proliant DL360 G6 (E5504 2GHz, 8GB RAM,), within an small office with 2 computers. They only use MS Office and Accounting software. I need a Win2016Server (with the AD) and a Win7 with the accounting software that's all.
I am not sure if it would be better and more professional solution to implement the server bare metal (Win2016) and HyperV or VMWare inside for the Win7; or to instlall ESXi on the server and have two VM, one 2016Server and Win7.
Someone told me that I had no enough power on the server to virtualiza, and I am not good at this knowledge, so I ask you for advise.

Convert HPE ML110 Gen9 SFF to LFF

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a refurbished ML110 Gen9 server from a reputable seller here in the UK, however it is SFF hotplug - unfortunately there are no LFF chassis in stock and they are not sure when they will be stocking more. How hard would it be to change over to a LFF cage? Can I just swap the cages out or is the wiring/physical chassis different?

 

I don't really want to go down the SFF route as I am upgrading from a Gen8 microserver and all of my storage drives are LFF.

 

Any help is most welcome.

Good Morning everyone , 

 I have the following server 878450-001 HPE PROLIANT ML110 GEN10 4108 1P 16GB-R S100I 8LFF  SATA 

Specs

 Xeon 1440
16GB Ram
HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID
x2 NEW HPE 869491-B21 ML110 Gen10 4LFF Drive Backplane Cage Kit Enclosure Kit

The problem according to the documentation which can be seen at link below

This setup should support 12TB LFF "swappable" at a minium even if I had a 4TB it should be detected. The issue is I have tried both a 12TB disc and a 2tb and 4tb disc and everytime I go into the BIOS and raid array and anything related to the disc setup "NOTHING IS BEING DETECTED"

Which leads me to believe something is not configured correctly with the cages that plug into the motherboard itself. I am extremely new to HP and HPE setups as most of my expiernce comes from Dell's

Maximum network speed of DL360 g9

Dear community

We want to buy a dl360 g9 server with following specs:
CPU: E5-2640 v3 x 2
RAM: 6 x 16GB DDR4
Network Card: 2 x HP NC523SFP
HDD: HP 6GB SSD x 4
Raid controller: P440ar
How much practical upload speed can we get on network cards output? Can we have about 35 Gbps for 4 active sfp ports? Is there a bottleneck limiting the speed in motherboard or raid controller or ... ?

DL380G7 Slow Network \NICs

Hello,

I have several DL380G7s which are used in a VMware test lab.

One of my DL380s NICs, has extremely slow Network speeds and seems to mimmic all the problems I found from an older post from here:

The Problem:
Network traffic speeds are slow, around 200kbs. The traffic seems to jumpto Kbs and than drops to zero and repeats this ever few seconds.

The problem is constant whether I use the onboard NICs or an enternal card like the HP HSTNS-BN50 Quad Port Gigabit Ethernet PCIe Adapter Card or the HP NC375T.

I've done obvious steps, I've wipped the OS from ESXi and installed Win2016, I've tried updating drives for the NICs with drivers I could find from HPs site and the problem is the same.

A work around from the post of the URL above was too:

This issue can be worked around by disabling LRO functionality by setting either of the following settings in the NIC properties under the Advanced tab:

  • Large Receive Offload: Disabled

  • TCP Checksum Offload (IPv4): Tx Only or
    Down grade the NIC drivers to 4.6.17.502 or to 7.4.14.0 - which I can't find on HPs website
    OR
    Download this driver: HP QLogic P3P Multifunction Driver for Windows Server 2008 x64 Editions
    Version: 4.7.28.523 (B) (Optional).

Anyone have any suggesstions? This is the only server out of the batch of servers I have that is doing this.

intelligent Provisioning Timezone issue

I've got a new Proliant DL380 Gen10 and, trying to set up Intelligent Provisioning using ILO. The problem is that the timezone option doesn't have anything in it to choose, so I can't continue - the time zone label turns red, as in not completed.

ILO Firmware 1.37 Oct 25 2018

System ROM U30 v1.46 (10/02/2018)

Intelligent Provisioning v 3.20.154.

Smart Array P440ar Embedded Slot error

Hi,

I get below warning message.

772 Smart Array P440ar in Embedded Slot has one or more cache module batteries/capacitors that are recharging. Caching operations such as Expansion, Extension, and Migration are temporarily suspended until the batteries/capacitors are fully charged. Caching operations will automatically resume when charging is complete.
856 The cache for Smart Array P440ar in Embedded Slot is disabled due to a cable error from the Smart Storage Battery.

please help me on resolving this error. thanks.

DL380e gen 8 25SFF don't see HDD or SSD

Hello, i have a 25bays DL380e gen 8 with 32 gb of ram.

It don't see my sata discs (wd black 7200rpm 500gb or ssd samsung 128 gb) when minis-sas is pluged on motherborad.

I tried both entry and all bays but no success...

 

Could anyone help me please ?

Heat sink and fan for DL380p gen8 and ML350p gen8

Hi,

 

So I've ordered two new CPUs for two of my servers. They are one DL380p gen8 and one ML350p Gen8.

As these weren't available at our usual supplyer we had to look elsewhere as refurbished units. and they didn't come as a kit.

 

We found the CPUs but the CPUs Only. No heat sink or fan whatsoever.

 

My question is where I can find the parts number for these so I can find where to buy them?

We have one CPU installed in each server and want to add a second one. Is it only the CPU, heat sink and a fan? Or are there other stuff that ships with the kit you usually buy?

P212 - SAS drive issues

Hi all,

1st Time on the forum.

I have a ML110 G6, I have just added a P212 card with 256mb Cache to the system and updated the P212 to the latest firmware.

As this model does not have a drive cage, I ordered a Mini SAS to 4 SAS lead and connected to my 3 x 3tb SAS drives.

When I power on, it shows no physical drives attached.

I have tried connecting the same leads to SATA and no issues.

I have installed ACU within windows and it also shows Code 347 - No configurable physical drives.

Am I missing something here?

I know the P212 can support single drives in RAID 0 above 2TB with the latest firmware (or so I've bene told).

Not sure what to try next, any help would be greatly appreciated.
