Hey Guys,
I have been struggling not able to install Win Server 2016 on DL580 Gen10 using Intelligent provisioning; it was stoping at 71% and reboot. After some reaserch, i found out that You just need to remove the FC Card from the Server, Install and then put them back. It did work.
For anyone who is struggling, here the solution.
Unable to install centos 7.4 in raid
b140i Controller
Hello,
I have a Proliant Gen 8 Microserver, and I have installed an SSD drive in the Optical Disk Drive bay on Port 5. I have installed Freenas onto it, but have to boot using a USB stick with Grub on it to chainload the SSD to get it to boot Freenas. This was the guide I followed: https://www.ixsystems.com/community/threads/unable-to-boot-freenas-on-ssd.74327/
That's the idea anyway!
However when Grub hands over to the SSD, I get the following error message: "error : hd5 cannot get C/H/S values". I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix this! Has anyone got any idea what that error means and how I can fix it?
I have disabled the G120i RAID controller in the server as FreeNas will be managing all of that.
Please let me know if you need any further details.
Cheers, Bob
Hi all,

We recently got 5 Proliant DL360 Gen9 servers, and we removed the cover to install new NIC cards, but on 3 of the servers we couldn't put back the covers on the servers. Any tips on putting the covers back?
When I'm trying to update some hosts with SUM, I keep getting this error now where before I never did.
Warning: Integrated Smart Update Tools was not running on the OS. If components are selected to install via an iLO install set that require installation in the OS then they will not run unless iSUT or Smart Update Manager are run.
I've been trying to get this iSUT figure out, but the documentation makes no sense. I was wondering if anyone has figured this out on how to get it installed. I've been going through so much documentation but it seems so poorly documented.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
We have a hp ProLiant DL360 G7 server with dual E5649 cpus. We noticed that only 9 of the threads are being used. Even when stress testing with prime95 only 9 of the threads on node 2 reach 60%. The rest are at 0%. See screenshot below. Any help would be much apprecieated.
Thanks
Matt
Hi,
I just added 2 disks to a running server HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 (vmware host), but they do not show up in the ILO hardware overview, and also in the hpssacli utility they don't show up.
The controller is P440
Do I need to reboot the server for the disks to become visible/usable ?
Thanks
We have a new unit and I installed 4: WD Black 1TB Mobile Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache 2.5 Inch - WD10JPLX and the fan noise is impossible. HPE says I need HPE drives. We updated the ILO and Bios and no change. We are thinking of spacing out the drives, replacing them with SSDs or maybe changing the fans,.
Hard to beleive that the server is acting this way. Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated. We have looked on-line and don;t see anything that works for us.
Thanks.
Hard drives crashed on an HP Proliant GL120 G5 server. Got new drives installed. Array built. Ran the full OEM diagnostics that came with the server, along with CHKDSK. Everything is fine with all of the hardware. Reinstalled from the OEM discs that came with the server. Keep getting BSOD that quickly disappears and then a reboot. If I attempt to boot into safe mode, it does the BSOD once it gets to CRCDISK.SYS and then reboots. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
double post, with excuses.
Hi everyone,
may I mix 3 SAS 15k drives and 5 SSD SATA on a Gen10 with P408i controller on one disk magazin ?
I know there must be 2 separate Array, one for each type of disk, it might be a RAID5 for SAS and a RAID6 for SATA SSD.
I would like a confirmation to provision a some servers. thank for your advice.
Hi,
We have a Oracle RAC deployment(on OEL 6.4) with two nodes(Proliant Dl360e gen8) connected each other through private LAN through a CISCO mananaged switch.
Recently we have observed that any status change(up/down/freeze) in the Private LAN NIC causes one of the node(standby node) to reboot abruptly.Later we connected the two nodes directly through ethernet cable bypassing the switch and after a while one of the standby node got rebooted abruptly.
We still do not understand the root cause of the problem and looking for some input from this forum.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I will get soon an ML350p gen8 pc server and I would like to transform it into an workstation in order to use Machine LEarning algorithms . I would like to know if it is possible to use GTX 1080 ti on it ? I saw on userbenchmark that seems possible to use GTX, but I do not see anything about people who have done it on GTX 1080 ti ...
https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-ProLiant-ML350p-Gen8/2000
Moreover, the server will have two PSU of 460W (and there are dual cpu) , is it enough if I had only one GTX 1080 ti ? Or should I change the PSU for 750W ?
I thank you for your help !
Hi everyone,
I own a ML110 g9 with a raid card P410 w/ 4x Sata Disks.
I want to connect a extra Sata disk, a SSD, directly to the sata port n the motherboard, however I cant connect it to the power supply, no sata connector available.
I took some shots to help me identify what I have to buy
Obs: The "floppy" cable is used to the optical drive, i dont really use it, but if theres no other choice....
Hello, i am looking for .iso of HPE Insight Diagnostics for DL160 Gen6.
