GPU on ProLiant ML310e Gen8 or DL320e Gen8

Hi all,

I have two kind of servers, ProLiant ML310e Gen8 and DL320e Gen8, and I would like to add GPU on them. I was thinking on adding Nvidia GTX 2080ti.

Do you think it is possible? I tried to do some searches, and I mainly fund people having issues installing them. Are there some specific issue to consider while choosing/installing GPUs?

Thank you for your help

Regards

Hello,

I recently upgraded the RAM at my HP Proliant ML150 GEN 9 server, added another 32 GB.
Windows Server has recognized the installed quantity but does not allow it to be used, displaying:

Installed memory (RAM): 64.0 GB (usable: 31.7 GB)

I use Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.

Please, anybody know how i fixes it ?

I have installed an NVMe M.2 drive into drive 13 on the riser card.  I was not finding the device, nor any area in the BIOS that finds the devices for boot.  I could not find anywhere to enable the function.  Are these devices available for boot?

ML570 Server

Hello. My name is Rick.

I recently recieved a server from a friend of mine.

This is a Compaq Proliant ML570. It has 4 scsi 10000 rpm 18.x gig drives. It has one ide cdrom and one 12/24 gb tape drive. It also has a one floppy drive. I have added a scsi cdrom drive. edit: oops. It is a G1 machine. 2/4 Pentium iii Xeon and 1 GB of ram.

I can get it to install RedHat 8.0 but it will not boot.

I believe the two sets of two scsi drives are not seen during boot because a driver is not loaded so they can be seen.

I guess I need a boot drive.

What kind of configuration did this machine have and where can I get SmartStart 5.5?

Thanks.

Server after downgrade firmware doesn't work

Hi.

I have HP ProLiant DL 580 G7.

I've installed Windows Server 2016, and found that there are missing network drivers.

Later I found one post, that downgrade firmware may help and downloaded this image:

https://downloads.hpe.com/pub/softlib2/software1/cd/p1040529012/v64851/firmware-9.30-0.zip

It was showing that it can downgrade three points, I pressed install and after that server rebooted and nothing happened.

Lamp on the monitor is blinking, seems something happened with drivers.

iLO access I don't know.

Please, help me how can I rollback firmware! Or reset bios.

Also in the front of server on health monitor, I see yellow blinking.

Thanks in advance.

SUM 8.4.1: Unable to upgrade SPS and IE firmware when using command line mode

We discovered that the newest SPP (2019.03) contains firmware updates for SPS (Server Platform Services) and IE (Innovation Engine).

Unfortunately it is not possible to apply them with SUM/smartupdate in command line mode. This has two reasons:

1) smartupdate requires does not list the necessary packages (firmware-spsgen10 and firmware-iegen10):

If we try to apply them manually (execute setup script) it works without errors:

[root@server ~]# rpm -ql firmware-spsgen10 firmware-iegen10 | grep /setup
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-spsgen10-04.01.04.251-1.1/setup
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-iegen10-0.2.0.11-1.1/setup
[root@server ~]# /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-spsgen10-04.01.04.251-1.1/setup -s
[root@server ~]# /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-iegen10-0.2.0.11-1.1/setup -s
[root@server ~]#

We checked the versions via iLO and the updates were applied.

It seems some of these servers used battery packs and others used capacitors.  Which server configurations used capacitors?

Upgrading Smart Array P222 with SSDs: Failure Reason: "Hot Plug Drive Type Mix"

ProLiant DL320e Gen8 with Smart Array P222. It currently has 4x 1TB 7200 RPM SATA HDDs in a RAID 10 configuration. We are trying to upgrade these to 4x 1TB SSDs. When swapping the first one, the system fails the drive ( ADUReport says "The physical drive has failed"). The last failure reason is, "Hot Plug Drive Type Mix (0x25)".  This seems to imply that mixing the SSD with the other HDDs is not supported, which seems a bit weird to me, as I am under the impression these should be compatible. However, I can't seem to find any documention on this error code. Is that truly the issue and I really need to do something drastic like rebuild the whole server, or am I missing something?

Here is a snippet from the ADUReport.

Trying to update HP ProLiant DL 120 Gen9 server SPP via offline remotely not locally

Hi community out there,

I would like to update System ROM of the server DL 120 Gen9, its good to update SPP so everthing will get updated. Current version of the System Rom is : P86 v2.00 (12/28/2015) and only  ILO  Firmware verison  before i alreday updated via HP ILO and ILO Firmware version: 2.62 Jan 09 2019.

I attached the ISO of SPP then reset server, went to boot menu F11 option then select HP ILO virtual USB/CD and hit enter. HP logo appeared then select Automatic (alreday did steps with other Bladeserver and it works) then after stuck at place where it shows "mouting a root file system, please wait" then after couple of minutes it same progress percentage without any progress then i restarted server without iso. Could be case ISO file is different location and server is in different location that's why taking time becuase of not local avaible of file but i dont think so that could impact a lot.

Thanks

Syed

Hello,

I am having problems installing Win Essentials 2016 from an ISO by using Intelligent Provisioning Express OS Install.  I copy the ISO to a exFat USB, but the install warns me that the selected OS does not support this install source and I do not get the option of the next button.  I would be greatful for any tips on how to solve this issue.

HP P420 Firmware Flash

HI All,

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place. I couldn't find a location for storage controllers specifically.

I have a HP P420 Smart Array Controller in a HP Proliant ML310e Gen8, which is being recognised in the BIOS but is not being recognised in the HP SmartArray Configuration utility. I have a feeling the firmware on the card may be corrupted...

I have attempted to flash the firmware on the card via HP SPP but it gives an error (see below). When the SPP highlights that the controller requires an update the current version of firmware is blank. I have tried using the advanced options of rewrite, downgrade etc which produces the same error

Exit Status: 3
Update not attempted. All selected devices are either up-to-date or have new versions installed.

I have also booted a CentOS 7 liveCD and attempted to flash the firmware in terminal with all the switches for rewrite, downgrade, force but still it produces the same error as above

Is the controller broken and I am wasting my time, or is there a way I could flash the firmware back and salvage the card?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Joe

DL360 G10 - Single RIser and 2 x Dual Port Ethernet cards

Hello,

Will the following configuration work - willl the bus on the riser support it:

DL360 G10 with a single CPU and single riser

2 x  HPE Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port 640SFP28 Adapter - in PCI slots or riser

1 x HPE Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port 640FLR-SFP28 Adapter in FlexLOM port

I'm concerned that the single riser may not have the bandwidth to support the 2 x 25G PCI cards together

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

DL360 G7 unable to boot from internal USB

Hi All,

I have a DL360 G7, it has 3 internal SSD drives which I have configured with RAID5 within SmartArray. I have a 16GB SanDisk Cruzer fit that I inserted into the internal USB port. BIOS configuration is currently set to default.

I installed ESXi 6.7 on the internal USB port and upon installation of ESXi, i pressed 'SHIFT+O' to change the format to 'formatwithmbr' as I have found out (googling) that HP will not boot if the disk is formatted with GPT.

The installation was successful and server rebooted, however, it will not boot from the internal USB. I have included a frew screenshots of what I see right after first reboot after installation.

Any help is appreciated.

Update Blade BIOS without OS through SUM

Hello,

I am wondering if is possible to update the BIOS of a collection of Blades throgh the Smart Update Manager (SUM) if there is no O.S. installed on the blades. If I add the blades to SUM as iLO node I can update the only the iLO.

Cheers!
