Hi Experts

I have a HP Gen 9 server ( Live server of the client and not the test system ) .. accidently one of the logical group in that server was setup in RAID 6 and we wanted it to be in RAID 5. Please suggest a way to migrate from RAID 6 to RAID 5 without losing a single data. Server is having P440 Array Controller.

Prompt response will be highly appreciated.

thanks.

DL380p No physical disks attached...

HP DL380p Gen 8:

After the Proliant service pack "P03093_001_spp-Gen8.1-SPPGen81.4" has been successfully installed, one of our servers does not start anymore.

There is a message that no disks are installed. See screenshot.

I can start the HP Provioning, but the SSA indicates that no disks have been installed. There is no Smart Array Controller.

Any idea?DL380p.jpg

DL380s Gen10 - Mass iLO and BIOS config

Hi, I've managed to make use of the ilorest and HPEiLOCmdlets to do some automation (updating firmware/ilo for instance) and the powershell scripts for getting server information. I was wondering if there's any way to download the iLO and BIOS configuration  from one server and apply it to another? Recently received a new batch of servers and would really like to automate those BIOS settings. I haven't been able to find commands to do this, so if someone can point me in the right direction or have any ideas I'd appreciate it.

ML30 Gen9 (SATA nhp model) + P440 Controller?

Dear all,

I have got an ML30 G9 entry model (P03704-XXX) with 4 LFF SATA disks - non-hot-plug. Now I got a quite new P440 controller  with its battery and cable too that would be available. Currently there are some standard non hot plug sata hdd in use (not mentioned in the quickspecs).

An option would be to buy a 4LFF drive cage, 4x new hdd that are supported then I get a hot plug solution that can be connected to the p440 (I have a wide mini-sas to 2x sff-8087 cable).

But that would nearly cost half the servers original price...

Is there any alternative in order to use that P440 in the server mentioned above?

Thank you!

This problem has been in existence since Gen 6 and Gen 7.   My server is uptodate on firmware, both motherboard and p420i (2gb) raid controller.

I have found two advisory bulletins published that offer work arounds by changing the bios settings to Maximum Power and Performance and making sure the Ram Frequency is set to AUTO.   That has helped but not fixed the problem.   The bulletins say that a permanent solution will be forthcoming.   WHEN ????   These bulletins were published 5 years ago and 7 years ago - where is the fix????

Advisory Document ID c02914393 : R data 2011-07-11 : U date 2012-02-13

I've rotated memory sticks - still reboots, I've added a stand alone sata drive to the motherboard sata ports to bypass the p420i as the target drive for the backup - still reboots, changed cache memory on p420i - still reboots.  I've reduced network speed from gigabit to 100 mbps to see if it was saturation in either the network or storage channels - still reboots.

A little help would be most welcome.

HP DL360p Gen8 not working when second CPU installed

Hello everyone.

Server DL360p Gen8 was upgraded with memory, 2 x PSU and 2 x E5-2620v2 more than year ago.

One day, maybe month ago, server stopped working and internal health diode blinks rapidly (maybe 3-4 times per second). iLO not responding and server cannot be turned on.

After swapping CPU's, discover that CPU 2 not working. OK, I have to purchase another one. CPU arrives, put it in the server aaaaannnnnd BAM - server not working

With both cpu's installed, after pressing power button, power button diode lights green for few seconds, fans turns on for few seconds, and aftter that server halted with rapidly blinking internal health diode.

Try to update system firmware, I see there is 2019 version release. Update it, iLO also.

Now I can log in with iLO, but 'system health is OK' and in CPU tab there is only one CPU.

Regarding to troubleshooting guide, when internal health diode:

Flashing red = System health is critical.
Fast flashing red = Power fault (Check system and devices)..

With one cpu, installed in first socket server boots and operates normaly.

Does anyone encountered such a problem or any advice how to continue with troubleshooting or I need to replace system board ..(or server)? Thanks in advance.

BR,

P.S. Maybe

ML110 G7 Fans

Hi,

Is there anyway at all that HP or other software allow you to control fan speeds? I use this in a home office and it's just far too noisy most of the time.

My temps are really good, in relation to the 'Caution' and 'Critical' theshholds HP define, so I don't know why of them is running at 100%. I know the ML100 is an old server now but the fans are pretty new so I don't think they're 'worn'.

hpe-ml110_g7-temps.jpghpe-ml110_g7-fans.jpg

Thanks!

PS: I've tried non-HP fans but as the BIOS has been hard-coded for specific RPM/voltages the server obviously refuses to boot.

Hello! I bought a new HP Proliant DL360 G4 a couple days ago, and it's setting the hdd (I only have one) to read-only, therefore I can't install an os on it. I have clonezilla (linux live enviroment) to work with.
The drive is in RAID 0 because I can't turn RAID off, and the only other thing that has been changed is that I've turned iLo off because I have no need for it. If you need any other info just ask

Thanks for helping                                                                                                                                                    -InVaLiD

One of its disks is a (653960-001) HP G8 G9 300-GB 6G 15K 2.5 SAS, which has a red light and in the software indicates that it has had a failure. The other 2 hard drives are the same model and are fine.

The failed disk has been replaced with a new hard disk (652611-B21) HP 300GB 6G SAS 15K SFF 2. "SC ENTERPRISE

RAID 0 has been successfully rebuilt.
But the new hard drive is installed a red light appears.
No alert appears in the management software.
In addition, it has started recording information in the new RAID correctly.

A technician told us that this was likely because a new hard disk had been placed and the controller firmware would have to be updated.

I would appreciate your support with this confirmation or what solution could be given.

We have a server: HP Proliant DL380P Gen 8, in which a problem has been reported.

One of its disks is a (P / N: 653960-001) HP G8 G9 300-GB 6G 15K 2.5 SAS, which has a red light and in the management software indicates that it has had a failure. The other 2 hard drives are the same model and are fine.

Therefore, it has been replaced by a new hard drive (P / N: 652611-B21) HP 300GB 6G SAS 15K SFF 2. "SC ENTERPRISE

RAID 0 has been successfully rebuilt and information is already being saved.
But a red light appears on the new installed hard drive. (Attached image) (Box 2 - Bay 2)

No alert appears in the management software.

Is this because a new hard drive has been placed and the controller firmware needs to be updated?
I appreciate your answers or any solution to this problem.

On a DL380 Gen 10 server with Smart Array P824i-p MR raid controller and RHEL 7.7 we encounter the following problem when trying to update the firmware of hard disks with SUM:

[root@server ~]# smartupdate --yes upgrade sum : Smart Update Manager Version 8.4.1 Model: ProLiant DL380 Gen10, ROM: U30, ROM Version: 04/18/2019 -------------------------------------------------------------- Searching for firmware........................................ Install the driver, reboot the server and re-run SUM to update HDDs To allow SUM to proceed, use: smartupdate upgrade --ignore-warnings

The driver provided by RHEL 7.7 (07.707.50.00-rh1) is even newer than the one provided by HPE (07.706.05.00-14

But even after installing the version provided by HPE (and restarting the server), the problem persists and the message does not change:

[Your bios only has 32bit resources enabled. Try to reconfigure PCIe (mem BAR) address space (MMIO) settings in RBSU/BIOS (something like "MMIO above 4G" or "Above 4G Decoding", or "MMIO base" set to lower value)] Is there any setting or way to fix this or a specific revision of the bios that allows this setting?
