DL 380 Gen 9 GPU compatability

Hi all,

I have an older DL 380 Gen 9 with dual E5-2690-V3 processors. It gets used for CFD airflow simulations, and some other 3D work. The internal GPU really does an admirable job, however I am looking for a little more performance. I was looking to put an NVIDIA Quadro P4000 in the machine by way of the second (runs off of CPU 2) PCI-E riser (part number 719073-B21) I was looking for confirmation that the machine and processors will infact support and run the card, but also I am confused as to if the PCI-E riser alone will run the card, or if I need to order the GPU enablement kit (P.N. 719082-B21) in addition to the riser. Thanks for any help y'all can offer.

HPE Proliant SE316M1 won't boot at all!

I have a HPE Proliant SE316M1 that all of the sudden won't turn on.

 

After a lot of taking off parts I'm now trying to figure out what I need to replace instead of trying to find a magical solution to make it boot.

 

  1. No hardware changes before the reported problem

  2. iLO won't show any errors in IML because the server won't boot at all

  3. When the power cables are plugged the PSU fans will spin

  4. The amber light in the power button does turn on

  5. When the power button is pressed (AND ONLY IN THAT MOMENT) the red health led turns on and starts blinking

  6. No other fan starts spinning after pressing the power button

  7. No errors show up in IML because the server won't boot at all

 

What I have tried:

  1. Removed both PSU's and started trying using one of the other; none of them make the server turn on but both of them make the respective fan spin when the power cable is plugged

  2. I removed all RAM sticks leaving only 1 RAM stick per CPU

  3. I removed CPU #2 and respective RAM stick and tried only with CPU #1

  4. I swapped CPU #1 with #2 to make sure it was not a CPU problem

  5. I removed the RAID card

  6. I removed all HDD's

 

RIGHT NOW THE SERVER ONLY HAS 1 CPU, 1 PSU, 1 RAM STICK (I'VE TRIED VARIOUS JUST TO MAKE SURE), NO RAID CARD AND NO HDD'S.

At the moment I have NO IDEA what is wrong with this thing and HOW I can diagnose what part I need to find to make it work. I can't find any similar problem online or any kind of documentation that can point me in some direction.

HPE DL385 G7 Opteron 6300 compatibility

The Opteron 6300 serires should be compatible with G34 motherboards. Therefore, I wonder if there has been a BIOS upgrade for dl385 g7 motherboard so that the board is compatible with the 6300 series.

Missing DVD setup disks for Proliant DL-380G7

Recently purchased a pair of DL380G7's and will be setting one of them up in a LAB configuration.   eBay sellers don't have the DVD's that come with these machines...

Do any of you have an extra set?

I installed Ubuntu and I want to upgrade the HP DL180 G6 firmware. I browsed URL and download all firmwares, but the files can't detect any hardware for upgrade. Why?

This entitlement does not exist Error

I am trying to link a warranty so that I can download HP Service Pack for ProLiant. Should be an easy task, but no.
Every time I try, I get an error saying "This entitlement does not exist"
I have put in the correct serialnumber an productnumber found on the sticker on the server.
The warranty check get status active on the serialnumber. The server is brand new.
Why does this not work and why the complicated procedure? Just give us the download!!! I have better things to do.
Please help me with the linking and do NOT just point me to the user guide for warrenty linking.
I have read it.... Many times.

The insatallaion is succesful bute does not boot.

Unable to find drivers to install using modprobe

Tried Software RAID on the OS still cannot boot

SPP SUM from Windows Server 2019

Hello, I administer web and e-mail server DL20 G10 (3 months old) with Windows Server 2019.

I would like to install SPP from Windows using SUM, because minimalizing time when server is unavailable.

I have big problem, because I am not able to run SUM.
Error: Cannot launch sum_service_x64.exe localy. Reason: HTTP Server start failed (failed to open listener)

There is no dropped line in Windows Firewall.

There is this event in log:

I would like to know if it is possible to put a 12TB HDD LFF disc, I found an old satasheet and said it was only possible 8TB. My controller is the Smart Array P840.

I would like to know if there is a mounting kit for the HPE Proliant ML30 Performance Tower HDDs.  I bought this tower with the idea that I would use some 2TB HDDs that I already had, but, I can't see any way to mount them.

Disks to buy for DL380 G10 6230 sff

Hi, 

I,ve just bought a new DL 380 G10 6230 sff.  I still need to get it shipped, but that should been done this week. 

I need some advice for the disks that are going to be used in the server. It,s unclear to me if I can use nvme disks in the server or use SSD,s in the server.  I would like to use the standard disk array at the front to mount 5 disks (in raid 10 + spare).   In some posts  i see people struggling to boot and use hardware raid with nvme disks..  I would like to use hardware raid.  Is it possible to buy 5 nvme disks and use these as a bootable raid 10 set ? 

Are there some perfomance stats for using nvme vs ssd ?

I was installing Windows Server 2019 on new HPE Proliant ML 110 Gen 10 and got this error message "A media driver your computer needs is missing"
I am working with Smart Array S100i controller.

Hello, good afternoon.
ML110 G9 server, 10Gb 2-port 561T Ethernet

I wanted to ask you if Windows Server 2016 operating system drivers could be used on a Windows 10 LTSC.
For a long time I have been using Windows Server 2016 with all the official drivers, but now I have switched to Windows 10 LTSC, and on the HPE website the driver downloads do not exist for Windows 10 operating systems.

Would there be a problem using Windows Server 2016 drivers with this Windows LTSC?

Windows Server 2019 Evaluation

Hi,  I am trying to install windows server 2019 evaluation on HPE DL380 G10 

 I entered in IP and created raid 5 and started the OS installation process, once the OS install started it throws an error saying that

WINDOWS CANNOT FIND THE MICROSOFT SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS. MAKE SURE THE INSTALLATION SOURCES ARE VALID AND RESTART THE INSTALLATION.

Windows Server 2019 Evaluation Installation on HP Proliant DL360 Gen10 Server

Hi all,

 

I’m now intalling windows Server 2019 Evaluation on HPE Proliant DL360 Gen10 Server through the HPE Rapid Setup Utility.

After loading of files, I got this error: “Windows cannot find the Microsoft Sofware Licence Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation”.

I have downloaded the Windows Server 2019 ISO for second time and change media installation (I have used both usb media and dvd) but have got the same error.

 

Please, could someone help to fix the issue?

New Server ML110 GEN10, very slow video performance

Hello everyone.

I recently bought a Proliant ML110 GEN10, Xeon Bronze 3104 (1.70Ghz, Six Core), 16 GB ram.

The performance is very slow, I can't even play a YouTube video without looking slow. When I change windows from the operating system it also looks slow. I have the latest version of the HP Service Pack.

Has anyone happened to you? What can I do to fix it?

Hello,

Due to a couple of rounds of server consolidation and retirement of some old DL380 G4 machines, I have a couple of boxes of the hot-plug Ultra320 hard drives. Are there any G6/G7/G8 servers that can use these hot-plug hard drives in a RAID setup AND be capable of running Windows 2016 (or even 2012 R2)? Thanks for any help.
