Hello,
As a student - I got myself student-licences (MS Imagine) via my University for "MS Std Server 2019 (or 2016)" and "MS Sharepoint Server 2019".
So for me to do proper experiments and learn about SharePoint at home - I bought/invested in a used HPE ProLiant ML350 G6 - that I had to buy some used SAS-disks to as well.
However, after updating the BIOS and making sure that the disk array have configured the drives correctly - no matter how I try - I get a red-screen with "Illegal OpCode" when trying to install the OS - both 2019 and 2016 from a bootable USB. Yes, have used both MS USB bootable app as well as Rufus to create the USB-stick and yes, the sticks are high-end and are compatible and have been used for bootable OS-installation before. Several sticks of different sizes (16Gb/32Gb), standards (USB2/3) and makes (Kingston/Corsair) have been used.
I´ve seen some pages that states that HPE does not support the older HW with the newer server SW - but I am not building it with that in mind - it will just be my own test sandbox - so I just want it to run so I can learn more. It is an impossible budget for me to get a newer hardware than this (and I´ve already gone over my budget for this one).
So, am I getting the error because of some kind of "OS block" on the hw - or is it something else?
Thank you for your time reading and I hope to learn from your wisdom.
Cheers!
Is it really impossible for MS Srv 2019 on a gen6?
DL380 Gen9 ROM update instructions
Hi guys,
I have 1 server, a ProLiant DL380 Gen9, which I use for a small website company. Running ESXi.
I want to prepare updates on it for the firmware, BIOS and anything else I can.
The idea is that I have the most minimum downtime possible.
System ROM is currently: P89 v2.40 (02/17/2017)
Redundant System ROM is: P89 v1.30 (12/24/2014)
Would I be currect in applying the following procedure (Via ILO4)...
- Under diagnostics, Swap rom (so the 2014 is currenly active)
- Under Firmware, upload the latest ROM I can find.
- Shutdown ESXi and reboot the server
Question: Will this delete all my BIOS configuration? Or is the configuration stored elsewhere? I don't know what is on the 2014 ROM or how it is configured and I'm worried it wont be the same settings as the active ROM.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
-Matt
Bought a DL380e G8 to use for FreeNAS
I understand the Raid controller needs to be disabled as FreeNAS wants to do this part. Will I need to provide an SAS-9211-8i to connect drives or can the drives be accessed directly from the backplane & disabled Raid controller.
DL360 Gen9 - event log - HP Active Health 3.2 config.xml
Hi all,
I have a repeated application warning in the event log (Event ID 84)
-- SECURITY WARNING -- CPS File 'C:\ProgramData\Hewlett-Packard\HP Active Health\CPS Configuration Files\HPActiveHealthHPSA\3.2\config.xml' has been tampered with! It will be deleted.
I've checked the file location and it has, indeed, been deleted.
I've looked at the previous version (3..1) and the config.xml is still in there.
Antivirus and Malware scans all come up clear.
Any ideas?
Cheers, Karn

Only LUN0 visible on SAS connected server
Hi All,
We have purchased 2 x DL380 40 core servers both with HPE E208e-P SR dual port 12gbps SAS controllers.
We purchased an Infortrend GSa2024RT SAN with dual 12Gbps SAS controllers.
Currently I've got one server connected to one of the ports on the SAN.
I've created two disks on the SAN and mapped them to the controllers.
When I go into my Server 2019 disk manager screen however I see only 1 disk.
From doing some experimenting, it appears that only drives that are mapped as LUN0 appear on the server.
I'm completely stumped, anyone got any ideas ?
Paul.
ProLiant DL380 Gen9 not posting
Company bought a new DL380 to replace a dead server. Arrived today with no visable dammage, internal components are installed correctly, but system will not post. Have tested power supplies with no change.
Power button flashes green for 20-30 seconds, fans spin for half a second, system powers off. No beeps.
I've tried to find LED indicator schematics for Motherboard 775400-001 and 843307-001 with no avail. Where on this motherboard can i find the model number? It's not explicitly clear to me.
I did manage to find LED Indicators for the only other powered LEDs in the system, on the Smart Array P840ar Controller. On the card, LED 3 shows amber and LED 1 shows Green before the system powers off immediantly. The diagram online only gives a seneriao where LED 3 shows Green, not amber. Again, where can I verify the part number for this card in my system?
Any direction to a more comprehensive LED indicator diagram, or propper parts list will be much appreciated.

Fastest SSDs on SAS interface for P440ar controller + RAID compatibility + firmware requirements
Hi everybody!
I have a server HP DL360 Gen9 (P440AR controller). I just want to use high-speed SSD disks on the SAS interface (as fast as possible on SAS interface only).
1) I found very fast SAS SSD (for example DC SS540, SS530, SS300 of WD), but I don’t know if it is compatible with the controller P440AR for creating RAID 10?
SSD SS540:
IOPS (4KiB) Read/Write: 470K / 240K
Read/Write: 2130 MiB/s / 2109 MiB/s
2) Also, I don’t know which versions of the firmware for HP DL360 Gen9 server support such disks (or other SSDs on SAS)?
Maybe anybody will have a good recommendation in this regard which SAS SSDs is better to choose for P440AR controller for RAID10?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Can't find Intelligent Provisioning - HP proliant DL120 GEN9

Upgrade P420i on DL380-G8
Hello,
We get errors on controler P420i with DL380-G8. The last version of Firmware for P420i on G8 is 8.00. Today we have to reboot server to recover a sain P420i controler.
Can we upgrade to 8.32 ?
Why that question ? The SPP available for G8 don't contain last P420i firmware. If we try an other SPP version, HPE ask customer to assume risk of update.
Can we really uses update version over the G8 SPP ?
Thanks for your help,

Hp Proliant ML110 G7 Power LED not functioning Server would not power up.
I have a Hp Proliant ML110 G7 Server with Windows Server 2012 installed on it.
This server machine would not boot up.
When you plug the server to the power source, all the fans would immediately start working (the Machine would be humming as though it were working) but the Power LED is not lit.
I checked the power LED status on the system case and it indicates that when the power LED is amber, the Server is on standby but when it is not lit, it implies power failure. In my own case, the power LED is completely off. The only LED indicator still functioning is the blue light (the UID LED) in front as well as behind the machine.
I will appreciate any useful information to get my machine up and running again.

B120i - Which drivers for Windows Server 2016 Essentials ?
PROLIANT ML 310e Gen8 V2
Do you know if there are specific drivers for the Essential versione of Win 2016 ?
I configured the array and booted from Windows DVD.
I extracted this drivers (cp033111) :
in a usb key and, when installer ask for drivers, I select the right one but , after few seconds waiting, the following error message appear : "New drivers not found. Verify that installation support contain proper drivers".
The same drivers on Windows 2019, work regularly.

HDD for server HP DL380eGen8
Hi!
There is an old server in configuration: DL380eGen8 B320i (512MB). This server has 8 HDD 652757-B21/2TB SC 6G 7.2K LFF SAS (seagate constellation label). To date, 3 HDDs have already failed.
And to date, HDD 652757-B21/2TB SC 6G 7.2K LFF SAS is not available.
Can I replace the current HDDs with the new Seagate Exos 7E8 4 TB SAS ST4000NM0025?
I 'm embarrassed by two problems:
1) HDD Seagate Exos 7E8 4 TB ST4000NM0025 SAS is HDD on 12G. The DL380eGen8 backplane is on the 6G. Will they be compatible?
2) Can the new HDD Seagate Exos 7E8 have problems with the DL380eGen8 platform itself? Will the functionality of the fans in the server chassis not be disrupted?
Best regards,
Luck
HPE DL380P GEN8 fans working at 50% and some times at 60%
Hello,
I just bought a DL380P Gen 8 recently witch came with a HP Enterprise 10Gigabit Ethernet Card 2-port 530FLR and installed VMware 6.7 on it with all firmware updates made to the server and ilo updates. With this set the server works perfectly with the fans working at 9% but since i don't have the RJ45 adapter for the HP Enterprise 10Gigabit Ethernet Card 2-port 530FLR i had to go and get my HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332T Adapter 615732-B21 witch i saw on the internet it was compatible with the server.
With my HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332T Adapter 615732-B21 installed, when it boots vmware the funs run at 50% and some times 60%.
Installed Windows Server 2019 instead of running vmware and has the normal working with the fans working at 9%. Tried every version of vmware since 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 and 6.7 all of them do the same thing.
Does anybody know what is the problem and how to solve it?
I'm set is the following:
2x I-Xeon E5-2690 | 32GB PC3-10600R | Smart Array P420i/512 MB FBWC Controller | HP Enterprise 10Gigabit Ethernet Card 2-port 530FLR | HP Smart Array P822 24-CH 2GB SAS 6G PCI-E | HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332T Adapter 615732-B21
Thank you very much for all your support in ahead.
