Could I use a DisplayPort to Displayport cable instead of an adapter
Hi,
I am struggling to find Gen10 cabling instructions for the 21 internal drive config mentioned in the DL380 Gen10 quickspecs "12 LFF with optional 4 LFF mid-plane and optional 3LFF + 2 SFF rear drive bay to total 19 LFF drives + 2 SFF drives" - https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=a00008180enw
The 12G SAS Expander Card cabling is available on https://techlibrary.hpe.com/docs/iss/DL380_Gen9/setup_install/GUID-EC03C2E2-3E23-4C18-97B1-4E8321E8F361.html for a DL380 Gen9 but there is noting for the Gen10.
I cannot follow the Gen9 advice as it does NOT have the 4 LFF mid-plane option.
I have a Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10, so this is what I am thinking, but I am not 100% sure on the Mid-Plane and both Rear bays?
Any adivce or guidance will be welcomed.
Thanks
Martin
These 96w new batteries support 24 devices, ok? At least this is reported in quickspecs.
But, what does "devices" means in this information? (1)
And, I found that trough Insight Diagnostics, (storage section) is possible to check "capacity load: 24" (devices?) when the battery is ok, but how could I check the % of charge? (2) Thinking I´m working before deploying any O. S.
Thanks a lot for any advice.
Today I have added a M.2 solid state drive to my ML350p Gen 8 server. I know others have asked this question before. and I wanted to share my experience.
I used a simple PCIe adapter card from Inateck. Search your favorite retailer and I'm sure you'll find other make/models of cards. I don't know if it's allowed to post links to 3rd party products here so I will let you do the searching. The card cost about $11 and includes a low profile slot cover and a heatsink for the M.2 drive.
I installed the card into slot 2. The overal fit was so-so. I think the slot cover is mounted too high up so the slot cover doesn't seat flush down to the slot frame. Tightening the card screw to the case causes the card to gently roll back a little. The card is secure and all the pins are making good contact with the slot. But ... this kind of thing makes you shake your head.
The card looks super simple. It has a socket for the M.2 drive and that drive is wired directly to the PCIe slot connector. Since it is this simple I would think any other adapter would work too.
I had a spare Intel 600p M.2 drive with a capacity of 256 GB. It's a slow drive but adequate for general testing. The server booted up just fine without any hitches or glitches. Windows Server 2019 recognized the drive right away. I was able to initialize it and create a parttion.
I'm hoping to upgrade the Intel drive for something faster with more capacity. Once I do I'll post some performance test results.
Thanks!
Hello,
I have a proliant hp DL20 Gen10 server. When I want to configure my disks or my raids I receive the following message "No device found"
Can you show me how to configure raids or create logical drives on the hp proliant DL20 Gen10?
My server has two 1 TB sata hard drives each
Thank you
I want to take a retired DL380 G4 and use it in my bedroom. I know that on the G6 and later models that they had a fan control option in the BIOS. Does that exist on G4 servers or do I have to do a BIOS update?
Hello all,
I'm trying to run a basic test diagnositics on a HPE ProLiant dl360 Gen 9 but it keeps failing on the "Total Memory" test. Error code 020000. I've updated to the latest software but I'm still recieving the message while everything else on the test diagnostic passed except for the memory tests. Unfortunately, I can't get the test logs because it won't save on my flash drive and I've tried multiple flash drives. It'll detect the flash drive but when I go to save it, an error message pops up. and the flash drives are all formatted to FAT32. I'm not sure if this is related/un-related or not but any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Good afternoon, colleagues.
We have an HP DL580G7 X7550 4P server.
We ordered a battery for Smart Array p410i, ordered by part number 462969-B21. The supplier supplied us with a battery with 462976-001 paramnomer, claiming that it is compatible, but as it turned out the battery has a different design , In the old battery (which is installed in the server), the cable leaves the battery and connects to the cache module. There is no cable in the battery 462976-001, but there is a connector.
Tell me, did I understand correctly that you need to buy an additional cable for the 462976-001 battery?
I have a DL380e that every few hours gives a single 46/47 critical temperature error. Often with a very high temperature of over 120C. Given that the rest of the server is cool, fans are spinning slowly and it is in an ac room with an ambient temperature of 20C.
It has only started doing it after I removed a network card and moved teh p420 to a lower PCIe slot. Could this be related?

Hello Community,
I have to following problem regarding my Gen10 Microsever.
After am unpredicted shutdown (circuit breaker in my home) my microsever was shut down and since then refuses to boot. During the post screen the code 92 is shown in die down left corner of the screen and the message to enter boot menu or bios is not shown. What I have done so far.
Remove all HDDs, no change.
Remove the internal USB boot device, no change.
move the Ram to the second socket, no change.
Remove CMOS battery, no change.
reset bios with internal jumper, no change.
But what I have been discovered is that the server properly boots unless no usb device such as an keyboard is connected. what could be the cause of this behavior?
Kind regards
K.
I got one data center where I got HTTP boot to work to install Red Hat and CentOS 7 via netboot HTTP.
But in my other data center the two servers I am trying to do the same they will not actually attempt any HTTP connection. Tcpdump shows the offer (same as in the other data center):
00:36:41.109643 IP (tos 0x10, ttl 128, id 0, offset 0, flags [DF], proto UDP (17), length 296)
10.237.95.10.bootps > 255.255.255.255.bootpc: BOOTP/DHCP, Reply, length 268, xid 0xef01c0dd, Flags [Broadcast]
Your-IP 10.237.95.97
Server-IP 10.237.95.10
Client-Ethernet-Address 08:f1:ea:81:22:78
file "http://10.237.95.10/kickstart/uefi/grubx64.efi"[|bootp]
But it then never attempts to talk to the HTTP server, nothing shows up in tcpdump until it attempts to switch to PXE.
Any idea how to debug this? The UEFI shell only ends up with:
>> Booting Embedded FlexibleLOM 1 Port 1 : HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 534FLR-SFP+ Adapter - NIC - (HTTP(S) IPv4)
No offers received matching the 'UEFI HTTP Boot Policy'
My DL380e server has just started rebooting and giving the following errors every few hours. See below. The room is not overly hot (27C) and the server is not under much load.
A few days ago some changes which did not cause the problems, but may be related. It was working fine until the last disk in the array was replaced and the array expanded.
- replaced the last disk in the array with a HGST 900GB 2.5 SAS drive and expanded the 7 disk array to most capacity on the disks. All the disks are the same HGST SAS drives, the
- moved the boot partition to a different logical drive and re-installed the OS (Ubuntu)
What could be the cause of this?
When I use the hpasmcli utility I see something strange is the problematic sensors. It is problematic as there is NO WAY any part of the server is at 18C, and sometimes #45 reads 1C!
Thanks, George
Hi there,
Currently have the standard onboard b120i / + 4LFF cage. If i want to add a second drive cage - do i just need the cage and P420i - or is there more to it than that?
Hello,
I have been trying to install CentOS 8 in a Proliant DL20 Gen9. I created a logical drive including 2 HDD in RAID 1, I followed the instructions in:
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX-b06dcf1c13854c00b464ee8909
to install the B140i driver and everything seemed to work fine. However, the OS installer does not detect the logical drive. I switched to a terminal and ran cat /proc/modules, but the driver is not listed. What can I do?
Thanks and best regards
I have recently installed DL80 G10 server with dual gold processor which acts as Vmware EXSI host.
Every few minutes the fans kick on and go full speed for few seconds and then quitens down. This it repeats every 4-5 minutes. I notice the fan 4-5-6 are showing little higher speed than of fan 1-2-3.
Changed the setting from “Thermal Configuration” to “Optimal Cooling” From RBSU and even cold booted the server. Updated the firmware to newest version.
If I set the power regulator settings to STATIC LOW POWER MODE then the server quiets down and everything seems good. Except as I undertand it, this decreases the server performace. Any one have any ideas?
I have installed 3 optional adapters total 5. but only show 3 others 2 status status unknown. physically Slot 2 and 3 cards are blinking.
Anyidea about this
thank you
