Replace SAS disk for HP ProLiant 380DL Raid1

Hello Everyone,

I have HP Proliant Server 380DL G9 with 5 SAS disks, (2 disks for raid 1, also 2 disks raid 1 and the last one is raid 0)

one of the disks in the 1st raid 1 is flashing Amber, so its recommended to replace the flashing disk with new one.

So I want to ask, How to replace this disk?  is there any instructions i need to follow? and if the controller is hot swappable, how I can make sure that my controller hotswappable function is activated so i can only pull the old one and puch the new disk

Hello, for a few hours I am trying to install Proxmox. Firstly my tmp wasn't working, then hw-pmu was corrupted. But I fixed these errors. Now I am having a problem but I don't know what to do. Here is a picture of the screen while proxmox fail to boot. PICTURE

ML350p G8 need to upgrade to 10TB Drive, requires SAS Controller Upgrade

We have a need to upgrade to 10TB SAS Drives, they are listed as acceptable for ML350 G8p but I need to find the right controller for this and need help.  It does not matter if they run at 6GB.  Please help, thanks in advanced. We are willing to pay for support.....

DL360 Gen10 can not power on

Hi folks, 
 

I have a DL360 Gen10 serve can not boot up normaly after two power supply input loss.
It now blinking all front lights. Not getting on.

380 G7 - Upgrading SAS FW

I am rather new to HP servers so I think I may be lucky only having one persistent issue so far in revising FW and BIOS of a few old 380 G7's that was thrown on my table.

You see, I have several, among others, EG0600FBDBU  that need firmware upgrade to HPA(D) this: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_ab492cd06d1943bc91d79bd98c#tab3

However the current firmware is not the latest upgradeable - D7 - it is earlier versions that need other upgrades. to get to D7.  And here is where I am at a loss, completely off my rockers. I don't get them, sorry. Anyone have an easier method? I can take out the drives, put them in a Bay, connect them to other computer, anything goes, but I am not able to follow above instructions. Anyone care to explain them a bit or have another method?

ETHERNET PORTS NOT WORKING

Heloo,

 

I have NEW  HPE ML350 G10    P110  server , and problem is that all Ethernet ports don't work .

Instaled Windows server 2012 R2  , i can see all ports in device manager and in Network setings but when plug Lan cable , nothing hapens ... led idicators  don't flashing and just stay "nework cable is unpluged" . I try all Intel network driver from HPE suport for this server , also from Intel X722 Series drivers ( Like is in Eth model description on Server bios ). Also try all 4 ports ... same problems ... tested LAN cables , tested Switches , tested Router ... All works fine ... just Server ports  won't ....

Any solution ????

380 G7 with unhappy power supplies on UPS

We have 2 380 G7's in the rack, both purchased used. I recently set up APC UPS's (1500 PRO models) on the servers as the previous solution was not a good solution. I have one UPS per PSU ( so 4 total for redundancy). Our primary server is happy on backup power and you can drop one supply or the other and it keeps right on serving. The backup server however not so much. I verified total power load during testing is only 150 watts across both power supplies.

With both UPS's plugged in  on the server in question, ALL the drive sleds pulled (so basically mobo only) I put one of the UPS's into self test. The server starts a clicking noise inside, like it is seeking for solid power source and trying to switch a PSU on and off. Display shows that supply is bad. Repeat that on the other one and it does the same, but clicking is different tone telling me that it's a different relay possibly. Unplug both and the server shuts down. So I thought low voltages from UPS maybe. Doesn't seem the case. Those UPS's work fine on primary server doing the same test. I swapped the PSU's in the backup server with known good reman supplies and no change. Is there a power supply management board or something that could be failing in our backup server? I have not seen any documentation saying as such. But it is definitely related to this server only. The primary box does not have this issue under any of the circumstances I have created on the backup box.

Backup All Bios Settings - Restore

Hi, I want to backup all BIOS settings from a DL360 Gen10 to a file and restore to 30 other DL360 Gen10 servers.  Is this possible including raid configuration? Who has done something similar?

Pinout Required for DL380e/DL380p G8 LFF Expander Backplane

Hi all. I wonder if anyone could help me, please. I'm looking to see if there's a resource with a pinout for the two power connectors on the expander backplane in the DL380e / DL380p G8 12xLFF servers (part 647407-001). I was just about to probe the pins in the cables myself to try and measure the voltages with a multimeter, but thought I'd ask here first, just in case. I found a few other examples of people providing pinouts for other power connectors. Thanks.

ML350 GEn10 installation Windows Server 2019 via ILO5

Bonjour,

Je tente d'installer Windows Server 2019 (Desktop expérience) via ILO5, mais Windows échoue en me disant qu'il ne trouve pas le contrat de licence.

J'ai bien le minimum requis pour l'installation (même largement: 32 GB RAM + 8 SSD de 960GB).

Au début j'ai pensé que le problème venait de mon fichier iso peut-être corrompu, mais je l'ai téléchargé au moins 10 fois avec toujours le même problème (ou bien c'est le fichier source de Microsoft qui est corrompu).

Quelqu'un aurait-il une piste pour m'aider à enfin installer Windows Server 2019 sur mon ML350 Gen10?

Intelligent provisionning a créé 2 RAID sur HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10:

  • 1 raid 1 pour l'OS (2 disques)
  • 1 RAID 5 pour les données (6 disques)

Au début il me proposait un RAID10 sur les 8 disques et j'ai coché la case OS séparé. (je ne sais pas si la 1ère recommandation était mieux)

J'ai remarqué que j'avais aussi un HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 qui n'a aucun disque.

Windows ne tenterait-il pas de chercher le contrat de licence sur le S100i au lieu du P408i?

DL380 Gen9 SNMP OIDs - CPU Temps, Disk Status

I'm trying to figure out the correct OIDs to monitor components of my DL380 Gen9 server, but am struggling to figure out which is which. I'm using the MIB files from HPEs website with a MIB Browser, but it still doesn't say which component is which. 

For now, I'm looking to monitor the package temperate of both CPUs individually, and the status of each physical drive individually. 

How can I find the correct OIDs for these?

Configure a P420 in a DL180 G6 with 12 2TB SATA drives

I have a DL180 G^ whihc had a megaraid controller, which sees all 12 of my Western Digital RE4 WD2003FYYS 2TB SATA drives, but which 1) won't do Raid 6 and 2) was giving me in the neighborhood of .21 MB/s throughput.

So, I bought an "Amazon Refurbished" P420 with 1GB cache, but that would never load the raid config, which the manual claims should load automatically as there are more than 5 (or is it 6?) drives.

I returned that for a replacement, which dis the same thing, so I returned that and bought a "new" P420 with the 2 GB cachs, and it's doing the same thing.

My backplane has only one port.

Can I use the P420? If not, is there a controler I CAN use that will allow RAID 6, and provide resonable performance?

Problems with ram after upgrading the cpu

Hey! I have a problem with my HP Proliant DL380 G6.

After upgrading my CPU (E5530 to X5670) i've had problems with the dimm slots.

I've installed on every dimm slot 4gb "Rx4 PC3 10600R RAM.
But the dimmslots 1-4-7 wont work after upgrading the cpu...

I tired everything, Changing the RAM etc and I don't know what to do...

Maybe you guys can help me

DL360Gen10 system ROM/BIOS update

Hi guys,

I succesfully installed HPE server one year ago.  Default system ROM version was  U32 v2.02.  Subsequently  updates 2.10 to 2.16 worked perfectly by ILO Update Firmware utility . So last version i have today.

But updates to 2.20 or 2.22 or 2.34 without success.  ILO show message: 
"The last attempt to update or upload firmware was not successful. Make sure you are using a valid, signed flash file and try again. If you are attempting to install a component, first upload it to the iLO Repository then add it to the Installation Queue."

So, I tried IloRest by fwpkg U32 v2.22 successfully. But after server reboot I have only version 2.16 again.

Table ILO Information shows:
System ROM U32 v2.16
Redundant System ROM U32 v2.22

Table ILO Firmware&OS Software shows:
System ROM U32 v2.16
Redundant System ROM U32 v2.10

Could me to say, where is version U32 v2.22 after reboot?  Or what is current version?

DL580g8 and Nvidia K80

Hello,

I am trying to install a pair of NVIDIA K80 into DL580 g8 (4 cpus populated). It reports a power failure for most PCIe card cables, but I was able to make it work with the dedicated power cable. However, upon stress test, it is still reporting power failures. May I ask if NVIDIA K80 is locked out of DL580 g8 at the PCI level? Is there a way to bypass this check at the Bios level?

ML110 g7 - sound card recommendation please - Win10

Hello

I've ended up with an Ml110g7 and it is running windows 10.  It was running a small pci-e sound card with a CM18738 chip on it.

It was working, but at some point it no longer works, and is no longer detected. I think it happened with a windows update.

Yes I understand this is a server, and yes I get why it has no internal/onboard sound output device due to it being a server.

However I am hoping somebody has managed to find a sound card that does work with this, wheter it be pci-e or via USB etc.

Embedded media initialization failed due to media write Version 2,73

Hello, everyone,

It has been updated to version 2.73. Now comes the error Embedded media initialization failed due to media write - verify test error.formatting of the SD Card without success on 3 systems.
Does anyone else have an idea?
