iLO4 v2.75 - Disabling 'Enable Active Health System Logging' reverts to enabled after iLO reboot.

Hello,
I have 2 DL380Gen8p's for my homelab and to save the iLO NAND from wear and tear I would like to disable 'Active Health System Logging'.

I did disable (on both servers) 'Active Health System Logging' but I do notice that after a 'reset' (reboot) of the iLO subsystem the 'Active Health System Logging' keeps enabling itself.

I think this wasn't the case with an earlier firmware but I am too lazy to revert

Does anybody else with a Gen8/9 (both iLO4) with firmware v2.75 see this same behavior?

Regards,
Arian!

NVMe drives not detected in DL360 Gen9 server

I have a DL360 Gen9 server with the 2 bay NVMe enablement kit.  I'm trying to use 2 Samsung PM983 SSD drives in them but the system seems to refuse to recognize them.  On power on the lights flash for a bit and then turn off.  If I press the power button on the drive carrier later the lights blink, but never go solid.

I was able to use some Intel NVMe drives in a DL380 and so was hoping I would not have to use HP drives, but perhaps there are some other requirements I'm not aware of?  Thanks.

Hp dl 380 g7 stuck on hp proliant logo after cache module swap

So I swapped the cache module from a 512mb to a 1gb module in my dl380 g7 as the battery died and swelled and upon putting the new one in I'm stuck on the hp Proliant logo with the led on the motherboard showing CR4 and CR5 lit. As far as I can tell this says an operation is in progress on the p410i but I've left it for half hour now no change with no drives plugged in either. Any ideas anyone I tried plugging the old cache module in again but same thing.

Hello,
I want to install Windows Server 2016 on a ProLiant ML350p Gen8.
First I have updated the server with the SPP P03092, Gen8.1, SPPGEn81.4.iso
During provisioning I load the ISO file via the ILO console. But in the menu I only see Windows Server 2012 R2.
How can the correct server version be displayed in the menu?

Many thanks.

Good morning HPE Community,

I have a problem with DL360P Gen8, some time ago, we saw ILO reporting an issue - Cache module status - failed. After reading posts on community, and contact with support on my country, suggestion was to change a cache module battery - after replace battery, nothing change.

Server is after warranty, so i decide to write on community - i was thinking about update firmware of HP Smart Array P420i controller - it has v.3.22 firmware, but i do not know how i must to do this.

Anybody can send me step by step guide how to update firmware, can i update only controller firmware, or i must update all (ilo, bios, a then controller).

Some info about my server:

System ROM: P71 08/20/2012
ILO fv: 1.13 Nov 08 2012
System ROM Bootblock: 03/11/2012
Smart Array P420i Controller: 3.22
Power Management Controller Firmware :3.0
Power Management Controller Firmware Bootloader: 2.7
Server Platform Services (SPS) Firmware: 2.1.5.2B.4

I'm adding an screenshot of smart array controler.

I have a knowlage about DELL server, in HP servers i'm new. Thank you for alle comments.

Best regards.

Hi All,

We are facing login issues on HPSM on server DL380 Gen9 . After our observation we found that config file has removed our admin group from config file after reboot. Not sure why this happening and this issue randomly increased on other servers as well. So we raised case with HP team they suggested to update HPSM version on servers but with lower version on other servers its working  fine.

Please provide your valuable input to fix this this issue.

Hello everyone, I could use some experience help. I have bought a HP P/N 641552-001 300g HD for this server and the new HD won't rebuild my RAID 1. I have read online that I should be able to hot swap and so I did. The drive, when done, show an all amber solid light.

I can not attached jpegs of what shows in iLO 4. the system board model lists HP DynamicSmart Array B120i. Controller on Slot 2 HP Smart Array p420 controller. It is the second HD that went bad. iLO 4 shows

Any help would be appreciated,

iLO webpage seems to fail to load at time, iLO reset fixes it

Guys,

Does anyone else get this. I seem to get it on quite a few differnet versions of iLO, so i can't see a trend, but basically the iLO for one server will work one day, and then i'll see an error in OneView saying unsable to commniucate with server. And when i try to load the web page, i get nothing is displayed.

I've found I can 99% of the time putty to the iLO, and from there i can do a cd /Map1 and then reset.

This normally makes ther server connect to oneview again and the webpage now loads as well.

Ideally i'd like not having to do this too otfen, any ideas why this is failing? I've not seen others complain about this, so it makes me wonder if its something on my network that could cause the webpage part of the iLO to fail

Thanks

HP 360p gen 8 PCIe NVME U2 sff-8639

Hello. Please forgive me in advance. I write through translator.

I have a DL360p server and I want to connect an NVME drive via a PCI x4 adapter to a PCIx16 slot. NVME drive WD SN640. When installing, I get an error ILO4 related to:

Uncorrectable PCI Express Error (Embedded device, Bus 0, Device 0, Function 0, Error status 0x00100000)

And the red button on the case is on. I tried another PCIeX16 adapter. But the problem is exactly the same. An error is written in the OS itself:  NMI: IOCK error (debug interrupt?) for reason 71 on CPU 0

Then the system is loaded and running. Tried running WIndows. There the blue screen of death flies out and it is impossible to put it. A separate intel s3700 SSD is used as a boot drive

Please help, maybe you need a special setting for NVME? My friends have tested PCI-M2 and everything starts fine for them. But with U2 problems ...... Thanks

ML30 Gen10 and esxi 7.0 gpu passthrough problems

$

For a while, I've been wanting to passthrough an Nvidia Quadro P400 to a guest os.
I've updated from 6.7.0u2 to 7.0.1
(HPE-ESXi-6.7.0-Update2 to (Updated) HPE-Custom-AddOn_701.0.0.10.6.0-40)

In 6.7.0u2, Linux guest could see the GPU, but not "correctly" (nividia-smi not reporting card, but shows up with lspci)

In 7.0.0u1, the guest won't even boot with the passthrough (see below errors)

I've read about the passthrough changes in 7.0 and have created a new ESXi 7.0 U1 virtual machine from scratch.

  • The GPU is marked as active passthrough in the host hardware
  • The VM is configured with UEFI bios
  • I've added the GPU as a "Dynamic PCI device"
  • I've reserved all the guest OS memory
  • This GPU only has 2Gb...so nothing fancy there in memory allocations.
This card is max 30 watts and no "extra" power connections...seems to work ok

I see nothing in the logs that would explain the failure.

As soon as I remove the GPU from the VM, the VM will power up without issue.
I feel I have to be missing something obvious as this "should work", but I'm currently at a loss.

TIA for any help.

Hello,

since hourse we try to install windows server on a HP DL380 G9. Our problem is that we can not access Intelligent Provisioning or Storage Administration. In both cases we get error messages or screen is freezing etc. on post screen everythink looks good. Hardware check is fine, ILO Webpage we can access without any issue, but the important functions to create a raid1 before install Windows is not possible. The server is running with all latest firmwares. It is really very frustrating, we have 3x DL380 G8 and never had problems, now we have 2x DL380 G89 and one of them make the problems now

System:

  1. 2x E5-2680v4
  2. 512GB DDR4
  3. HP P840 with 4GB Cache and BBU
  4. 2x 500 Watt PS

Software / Firmware

  1. HP P840 -> V7.0
  2. ILO4 -> 2.75b
  3. BIOS -> P89 2.76
  4. Intelligent Provisioning -> 2.82.9

When I click F10 -> the system is loading the nex selection page, before the page is displaying where I

can select the Intelligent Provisioning or Storage administration, I can see on a black screen a error message:

error: no such device: HPEZCD260

When I try to access the Intelligent Provisioning I get an Firefox error and nothing happened. When I try to load the Storage Administration I get a dark blue screen and nothing happened. In some cases when I attach SSDs I get a black screen with error messages regarding mounting issue and or maintendence mode mesages

Can anyone help here please I really do not know any more

Help with DL360e Gen8 - Possible Raid controller failure?

$

Hi All,

Ive trawled the forum but cannot find an answer to my problem. We have a DL360e Gen8 sever running Windows 2012 Server with 8 disks in a Raid. (Single processor E5-2403, 8GB RAM, B320i Raid Controller) that has been hanging a lot recently. Ubenknown to me, users have been forcing it off and on again when it was running slow for the past few weeks! Today it was restarted and now wont reboot.

When the server is started it is slow to boot, finally gets to the windows logo and then we get the BSOD (no error numbers or messages). Ive been trying all day to get it going again but I think the Raid controller might have failed. If I go into the iLO overview and click on strorage, it says there is no smart array installed and when the server is booting (with the windows logo showing) all the drives turn off, I get the blue lights then all flash as the disks start up again just before the BSOD.

Would you guess that the Raid controller has failed? or maybe the power supply?
