P400 w/BBWC not showing RAID 6 option

I'm trying to created a RAID 6 array on a P400 256MB w/BBWC controller and ORCA only shows RAID 5 as highest level!.

From the quickspecs and manuals the only requierement for RAID 6 is battery-backed cache, i can't find anywhere that says it requires 512MB option(and i wouldn't want the nasty surprise of not having RAID6 after having bought that module)

FW is 7.22 so it's quite current

How to execute ROM Update Utility on ML370 G1?

I have a ML370 g1 with Ultra 3 disks that the SA5300 is calling out for firmware updates. How do I apply the latest firmware updates?

It seems to me that I must use the ROM Update Utility available on Smart Start 6.x but I can't boot this model from that can I? What is the alternative?

Thanks

DL380 Drives And Raid Controller Spec For Database Ops

$

Hello,

I am looking for some help on how to improve the speed of our Win2K server with Sybase 8 installed on it. We seem to be having a disk read and disk write bottleneck. We are using the standard 5Si raid controller. I am looking at maybe installing a faster raid controller and splitting the database to run on the fast card and the log files, and let the 5Si just run the operating system.

Any thoughts.

Thanks

Any tools to isolate disk subsystem performance bottlenecks?

$

Hi All,

Does anyone know of any (HP recommended preferably) tools to isolate disk subsystem performance bottlenecks? We have recently started experiencing long backup windows on a Proliant ML530 server. FTP test indicates slow performance of this server. Note, we have ruled out any problems with the NICs or the network setup of the server. It comes down to the performance of physical disks and/or logical drives. How do we confirm this? Is there a tool to check the performance of each disk. Note, the server has 3 RAID 5 sets (each containing 4*36.4GB Ultra 3 SCSI disks).

The server runs Windows 2000 Server (SP4).

Any response would be appreciated,

Thanks, SAKET!

ML350 G6 HP Proliant server Hard disk out of space

Hi i have a ML350 G6 HP Proliant server, its three years old and I’m really struggling with hard disk space at the moment i have 4 Partitions on C: but even those are struggling, my question is who easy is it to increase the physical drives with new ones without destroying any data and ensuring all mapped and short-cuts etc on clients are retained along with sql exchange server.

I need a perfect clone but off course I need much larger drives???

Can anyone with experience give me some idea please?

Many thanks

P410i - DL360 G6 - ESXi 5.5 crash - controller failure ?

Hello to everyone,

Today one of my DL360 G6 experienced a "purple screen" (esxi 5.5 hp + applied all patches). Once i restarted the server i noticed a possible problem with the controller (check attachments). Was wondering if anyone could have any ideas regarding the esxi crash or the controller message.

Thank you in advance

Server 2012r2 & ML370G5 & ML370G6, also ML350G5 & ML3506

I have a number of ML370G5 & ML370G6 servers, mostly running VMware. I also have a number of ML350G5 & ML350G6 servers, all running MS Server 2003R2 or MS Server 2008.

I've just added a ML350p G8 running Server 2012r2 in one building next to a ML370G6 running ESXi 5.0 and I'm really happy with Hyper-V on the new server. I would like to move the ML370G6 to Server 2012r2.

These G5 & G6 servers all seem way to recent to not let me install Server 2012r2 but it looks like I may have some issues. I've spent 2 hours looking over the support info and this forum and I'm coming up with more questions than answers.

I'd like to phase out the last of the ML350, ML350G3, and ML370G3 servers soon.

Can anyone help?

ML350 G5p raid ready for recovery

I have a problem with an ML 350 G5p. It is configured with a E200 raid controller. It is a raid 5 configuration. We had 2 bad drives and have replaced them one by one. After the first disk the raid controller rebuilded fine. No problems, but now we have replaced the last disk, and it tells us for several days ready for recovery. How to solve this.

On the internet i find many solutions lik rebuild the array. But this is not a option.

Are there any other options left.

I attached the ADU log.

Smart Array P420 drivers for Windows Server 2012 installation

Hi all,

I configured 2 logical drives (RAID 1 of 2 hdds) on a P420 SAS Controller and when proceeding to install Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard it does not detect the logical drives and asks me for a controller.

I checked the disk that came with the card and there's no controller there.  Also I checked the P420 resources center and found a driver however this is an executable and I can't run it because it does not detect the card installed.

I believe Windows installation wizard is expecting a .inf file.  How can I proceed?

Thanks.

DL180 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller Driver and Firmware

$

Hello.

I have DL180 and (if i got it right) there is HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller in it.
I've updated BIOS firmware and now I try to update RAID controller too.

None of Firmwares from HP isn't suited (can't find controller).

From linux I see there is an intel embedded controller in thr server:

0000:00:1f.2 RAID bus controller [0104]: Intel Corporation 82801 SATA Controller [RAID mode] [8086:2822] (rev 02)
    Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:31f4]
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 15
    I/O ports at d000
    I/O ports at cc00
    I/O ports at c880
    I/O ports at c800
    I/O ports at c480
    Memory at fceff000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable)
    Capabilities: [80] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/16 Maskable- 64bit-
Capabilities: [70] Power Management version 3
    Capabilities: [a8] SATA HBA v1.0
    Capabilities: [b0] PCI Advanced Features
    Kernel driver in use: ahci

So.... I have some questions:

1st:  If has been the RAID updated within BIOS update (since RAID is embedded)?

2st:  if hasn't done where can i find firmware for it?

3st : Where can I find drivers to install windows (Windows can't see disk during installation)

We have a DL380 Server running well. now we need to add D2700 StorageWorks. we insert the P822 into the slot 1 in the server. After connected system can recoganize all disks in D2700. this is good.

while in the iLO interface, we can see the controller in slot 1, there is an alert:  Cache Module Status  Degraded

in the integrated Management log, we can see

"POST Error: 1805-Slot X Drive Array - Cache Module Super-Cap is not installed; IMPORTANT: Unsupported Configuration: Cache Module cache functionality is limited. Action: Install the Super-Cap to remove these limitations."

I attached the quottion items of the D2700 . and the error pictures.

StorageWorks D2700 Enclosure
Redundant power supplies and fan modules
Rack mounting hardware kit
Two PDU interconnect cords (IEC to IEC cables)
Smart Array P822/2GB FBWC 2-ports INT/4-ports Ext SAS Controller
2M mini-SAS Cable
1.2TB 6G 10K RPM 2.5" DP, SAS Hard Drive - Enterprise

I do appreciate anyone can advice the error cause and the solution? thank you in advance!

ProLiant DL380 G8 (642105-421) - Power Not Redundant PDS Warning

$

I'm having a problem with the System Information in the iLO showing the Power Status as:  Not Redundant.

When you click on Power for more information it says:

Bay 1:  Good, In Use   ...  PDS:  NO

Bay 2:  Good, In Use  ...   PDS: Yes

The only thing I could find on my searches says that both power supplies are probably plugged into the same PDU (which they are, there is only one PDU at the small site).

The server is in a remote site, and I can't get the server turned over with this error/warning showing...  Is this always a case of the power being plugged into the same PDU?  I'm not even sure if they have an iPDU over there.   Both power supplies are plugged in, and both power supplies are good and "In Use" but the PDS: No  is what is causing the fuss.

Is there a way to turn off checking or something?
